Need advise on my next website

okay so I find a keyword which has around 3,000 searches a month according to Google adwords, the competition is low.

My domain is going to be the same name as the keyword.

I plan to sell an affiliate links from there.

A few questions

1) Will I rank number #1 on Google for that keyword when my website gets listed on Google?

2) Should I be writing a lot of content for said product, I was thinking of getting a writer to talk about 3-4 subjects on that site to get SEO attention. While the main sales page I would write myself, telling the reader why they should buy the product.

3) for the domain the following versions are available to use.

iPhonesInLondon.com (taken) (but not in use, being sold at auction)

iPhones-in-london.com (Free)
iPhonesInLondon.org/net/info (free)

which one would you take, or shouldn't I bother?

Any other tips would be great, can provide more info if people need.

thanks.

Dude you need to analyse the top 10 sites on the first page of google. Google adwords doesn't show you the seo competition. What you are looking in adwords is actually the advertiser competition.

sorry "iphonesinlondon" was just an example of what my website was going to be. so thats what im asking if its better to use the iphones-in-london or if i should have .net/org?

my niche is nothing to do with mobile phones.

@azhan, thanks, I have done that, there seems to be some competition which looks good, but it doesnt look too strong or saturated. One seems to be selling the same thing I want to sell. (they are the site I would affiliate off), the others are blogs about the same thing, selling memerships to there sites for vip content and e books about the niche.

when I analyze the sites, what should I be looking for?

analyze your competitors, their backlinks strategy, posts and content. If the competitor websites are below than PR 4, you have a chance to reach them, however PR 4 or higher will give you some tough time. Think out of box, Why not rank for local area, keyword in cityx, for example: cheap htc store ohio.

thanks guys, my actual site is for a niche selling online dating memberships. Maybe I used the bad example using iphones-in-london.

any ideas what domain name would be better, or would they both rank the same?

I was thinking of going with iphones-in-london.com think the hyperlinks are better then using .net or org?

    thoughts?

The domain will have little, if any, seo benefit at all. Too many people are fixated on domain names. You would be better off with some type of domain that could be interchangeable with multiple niches. For example, if you dating site does not work then you could change to a weight loss site without getting a new domain.

You are already in a bad business if all you want to benefit from your affiliate sales is with 3000 monthly search.

Remember that the 3k search will be shared mainly among the top 4 sites giving you less than 1k visit a month.

I think that less than hundred. Google Planner is not working proper.

Maybe am greedy but I won't go for a combination of keywords less than 20000 monthly search for affiliate marketing.

Based on the niche, it's a good idea to build your list. I have never done anything on dating before and can't tell if email marketing will fit into it.

A dating domain that you can change to a weight loss domain? That would be one hell of a domain and when domains cost like $10 I don't think you have to take it to extremes.

Create a brandable domain by all means but not something generic and meaningless that can be used on any multitude of sites in wildly different niches.

Anyway your domain will play little or no part in where you rank. Google no longer takes into consideration whether your domain matches your keyword.

Domains without hyphens are MUCH better IMO though just because hyphens don't look good. Kinda spammy trying to hard to get the keyword stuffed into your domain type thing.

Will I rank number #1 on Google for that keyword when my website gets listed on Google?
Unlikely. Google ranks sites based on backlinks.

    2) Should I be writing a lot of content for said product, I was thinking of getting a writer to talk about 3-4 subjects on that site to get SEO attention. While the main sales page I would write myself, telling the reader why they should buy the product.
Focus on QUALITY content not sheer volume. A lot of crap content is just crap content. Readers want content that engages them. They need to trust you to buy through your site.

Sure write on 3-4 subjects but only if they are relevant. Don't write for search engines either with keyword stuff garbage. Google AND your readers hates that sort of stuff.

You plan to write the sales page yourself? Are you a skilled copywriter? It's not easy to write copy that persuades people to buy not as simple as just telling people why they should buy it.

    3) for the domain the following versions are available to use.

iPhonesInLondon.com (taken) (but not in use, being sold at auction)

I wouldn't spend money on the one at auction, no need for it.

I wouldn't recommend building a site based around a single keyword and relying on needing to rank #1 in Google to get traffic and make money. Too unreliable and unpredictable.

Create a site around a whole niche and have relevant articles based on low competition keywords you have. If you can't flesh the site out into a full niche site it's probably not worth getting involved in.

List building will of course work in dating like it works in every other niche.
