Promoting a starting Nail Art business.

Hello everyone.

As the title says, I need some input in how to promote a starting business.
But first, here's a little information. My girlfriend is very talented at nailart.
I'm not even kidding, she's fantastic. I've started a facebook page for her business and I'm working at a website at this moment.

She has a nailart studio at her house, which is where she receives the customers. Just HOW do I promote her business in the most effective way?

So far we have designed business cards, which we leave behind at local stores. This has lead to a few extra customers, but not nearly as much as I would've wanted it to.

All input is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Ongur

Create a coupon type business card.

Then go to local spas etc. and talk to the owner. Offer them a deal where
you hand out their business cards to your customers and they do the same in return for you.

Have you tried contacting your local newspaper? You could get some nice results out of that!

My best source of new offline marketing customers is my current customers. Have her give cards to her current customers and also ask them to share their nail work on their social media accounts. Offer a referral fee or discount for new customers they refer. Plain and simple word-of-mouth marketing is sometimes the easiest and highest ROI you can implement.

    hello,
Make a quality brochure and distribute in local SPA's and i hope that will help OR make a deal with them like if they make customers for you then you provide discount etc etc..

Use colorful images and photos in your own image magazine to display work to locals and you can branch out to include other people who enjoy the design features.

You can do this all online and distribute to everyone who loves the art work portion of this business. This can include stories of the biz opening, discount services offered etc.

Think of this like a newsletter on steroids. Start locally with Press Releases and offer the magazine to anyone who wants to sign up for free. This will also allow you to keep your business each month in the eye of past clients and even build a mailing list at the same time.

Social Media can easily be your best option here. Using your Facebook, Twitter and Linked In Connections to let them all know and hopefully like your excellent business plan. This will get things moving in the right direction.

#1 Make a great product but y'all know that so I'll just dive into the tactics

#2 Create your target marketing sheet. See this: Quant Based Marketing for Start Ups

#3 Partner with similar companies and create benefit for them to email their free users

#4 Reach out to offline Meetup groups who generally have 200-1,000 person mailing lists

#5 Befriend owners of Facebook pages and see if you can do contests for an in-kind trade

#6 Go to the /subreddit related to your business and leave comments

#7 Search 5-10 keywords related to you on Google and leave comments on those related pages.

#8 Give away free content or ask partners (like I did with My Travel Hacks & Free Luggage for Your Next Adventure (Part 2))

#9 Go write guest posts for any site that's related. Use Technorati or ask your existing customers which sites they like to go to.

#10 Email the existing users you have asking for them to refer other people. This sounds obvious but hardly ANYONE does it. It helps if your product doesn't suck ass.

#11 Leave video responses on popular-related YouTube Videos

#12 Manually reach out and connect with your first 1000 customers. More likely they are MORE important than then 99,000 next people you'll get

#13 Raise your prices so you don't need to get so many people

#14 Manually reach out to Twitter / Facebook followers of your competitors

#15 Look at new channels that have less competition (rules) like snapchat, pinterest, instagram to drive traffic

#16 Consider going international where traffic is cheaper (okay, you're not paying but you know what I'm saying)

#17 Evaluate doing mobile related marketing since it's more affordable (less competition)

Definitely set up social media networks to display some of her work. I'd say mainly Facebook though.

Create a facebook fan page - location specific and also create a website on the topic and rank on local Google.

The fan page would give you authority and the local ranking business.

    Hope that helps.

You can try these since you will be promoting your business online:

    # Local listing services - You can use google places, yahoo and bing to Add your business. There are a lot of local directories that you can submit your business for more exposure.

    # Use social media - This is a great place to promote your business. You can join in facebook, twitter, linkedin and participate on their community.

    # Website - Its very essential that you have awebsite that people can take a look of the products/services that you offer together with the phone number that they can call.

#Videos - Create a video that talks about your business, products, services then submit it to youtube and other video sites.

#Search Engine Optimization - Make it sure that you have a targeted keyword that you can use in your website and ad promotion.

#Forums - You can look for your niche then join on their community and contribute of what you can do for them.

Goodluck to your business! I hope this will help.

You can do Viral Video Marketing. If she is as talented as you have said people are a sucker for showing talents on youtube!
      Create a channel on youtube.
Make videos that shows off her skills or even tutorial videos on how to do them yourself at home.
Have your social media, blog, etc sprinkled all over the video, descriptions wherever.
Just keep creating vids and contents endlessly as part of yiur career and soon enough she will be the most famous nail art girl on the planet!

        Hi,

This is what I do for real...in the offline world of Business Promotion. I just play at online promotion because it interests me to find out what really works.

From your post I gather that she is currently working form her/your home and that is fine for now until she gets really established. At that time you may both want to move to a more business friendly area since we can hope for a dramatic increase in traffic (which may cause concern among the neighbors).

It's nail art - so mostly female clients - Here you go:

Find an "in" with the local high school crowd - target the cheerleader group and offer to do nail art that is in the school colors or features the mascot - Do it for FREE... others will see it and want it and ask where it came from -- Sell to THEM.

Prom is coming - target that event - again using your cheerleaders/teen groups - offer discounted artwork for referrals. If they bring in "x" number of paying clients- give them theirs for free.

Cross market at EVERY hair salon, tanning salon, boutique, dress shop, florists - whatever is available in your area where you can leave flyers, coupons etc.

Define your target demographic and funnel your efforts to reach them first.

Facebook Fan page is a definite - just to showcase her work and offer "deals" - Target your audience with very specific demographics for FB ads.

Sit down together and brainstorm each and every event where nail art would be desirable.

Offer a Free manicure as a radio prize - they love to promote freebies.

Start with current clients and continue to expand the circle of your business - if it grows too much too fast, she will not be able to keep up on her own and will need help. This can be problematic if you cannot find another artist with the same degree of skill.

        Ask yourselves:

Where would people show off artsy nails?

Team Sporting Events - Target High School
Formal Dances - Target High School
Weddings - Target Brides via Bridal Shows

Where else? What types of Nail Art does she do? Who are your current clients and why do they have their nails done this way?

Just a few ideas to start your thinking process - this is an offline business - you need offline local promotion!!

Don't forget about Instagram (friends sharing pictures with their friends) and ask them to tag her. And Pinterest (another 'visual' social media).

You could also offer deals for referrals (i.e. $5 off).
