I have an amazon affiliate site earning...how much can I sell it for?

I was wondering how much I might be able to get for my amazon affiliate website. It is around 3 months old and has made $454 in December 2013 and so far this month over $100. The first month was around $76.

The site is growing steadily, but I am thinking of selling because I would like to go back to school.

Normally you value a site at 12 to 15 times monthly income.

Ultimately, it's what someone thinks it's worth.

A site is worth 6 to 12 times the monthly value in less someone has some strong interest in willing to pay more than that. I sold a website for $1750 in august and it was making around $140 per month.

My advice is keep it at least this month.. so you have a 3 month average, and then sell it..I wouldn t go any lower than 3k.

I will wait and see what this month brings before I do anything. I think 3k would be a fair price to sell it for.

      thanks

flippa is a good place to sell sites, as long as you have proven analytics and site metrics.

Unless you're particularly fortunate, I don't think you'll get much for your site if you offer it for sale now. Most sensible buyers are going to want a history of sales longer than three months before they can realistically apply a twelve-month (or longer) projection. That's especially true when your site's three-month period of business straddles Christmas. For all any prospective buyer knows, your sales could be heavily seasonal - or you may have just struck lucky.

I would hang on to the site and build up your traffic. If you can demonstrate a consistently increasing number of visitors and steady sales over at least a six-month period, you'll be in a much better bargaining position.

No one will by a site without solid analytics. If you do want to sell this site then it will need some kind of tracking.

It just takes 10 minutes to set up, look at statcounter or google analytics.

About 18 months ago I had an authority site making about $125 per month and sold it for $1800 on Flippa. This is a little more than 12 months income, but the site had a substantial amount of original content and I think that is mostly what the buyer is interested in. As NatesMarketing said above, the site is ultimately worth what someone thinks it is. In my case, the original content obviously added value.

Good luck with sell your site and let us know how it turns out.

I have to agree with this. As a content developer good articles and researched content can sometimes be more valuable than actual profit. A lot of site owners generate good content, they just don't know how to build their audience and so their site gets buried. Someone who doesn't want to deal with content and can't afford to pay for it, may actually be willing to buy a site with good content and low traffic.

Keep that site - it gives you a little passive income while attending School.

Also add some Kind of analytics to it. If you use Google Analytics, also add a Google Webmaster Tools account for additonal insights.
You already have some stats from Amazon. Make sure that you use different tracking IDs for different Projects, so that sales from different sites can be seen seperately.

      My advice is keep it.

Amazon affiliate sites usually require very low maintenence and it's a steady, continous income.

I love the amount of bullshit in IM.....you will gladly advocate that site yet if I was to create a site like theirs people would say its illegal and stupid.

Look at all there sites.....its an EMD for one and two is copying amazon product descriptions exactly.

three it provides no content and 50 word per page.

yet its making more than most people here

I don't care much about content. What I do care about is commissions from Amazon. I used Amazon review sites before without any success but the plugin used with these sites perfoms well, at least I am getting stable traffic and some commissions from sites that have been created recently.

Not caring about content is like leaving dollars on the table....
Put up good content; use quality link building to that content,
then your content will rise in the serps; so back link to your
content, then backlink to your backlinks....

but if you dont care about that then so be it....

or did you think you was just going to use the same ole, same ole
trashy dupliate content already used by millions everyday?
They too are lazy, and do not care to make the investment either...

Lol im not insulting you, Im mad at the goody two shoes who act like unless you do "white hat" x, y, z then your forever doomed.

If that site is accurate then this is a good example of a small success done smart and efficient for its purpose. Why do more than you need too.

Your right it is all about the money, I wasnt aware these were your sites though?

I'm assuming your using some Azon plugin? Also how exactly do you rank well when your content is all copy pasta of brief amazon descriptions?

Are simply the title tags enough for these products?

I am familiar with Azon plugin but these sites use another plugin that is called Xenia plugin. As I understood it can't be transferred to another domain.

I think the sites ranked and get traffic owing to a lot of products added to stores (for example, I have about 15,000 products within one website) and so called longtail keywords.

i'm pretty interested to know how you marketed your site! That's a great income source if you can replicate it, particularly if it's organic.

By the way, if it's a particular niche, I would suggest split test with some shareasale merchants as you might be able to make more money as commission rates are generally higher then Amazon commission.

If you are going to school then that's the more reason why you need such income on auto pilot. You don't want to be 100% dependent on your parents.

Employ someone to rinse and repeat the process, manage it for you or just keep this one and enjoy the ride all the way...

It won't take much of your time managing if you decide to keep it...

I would just leave the site as it is and let it run for you on auto-pilot.

That way, money is coming in every month for literally no work on your part.

Personally that sounds like a site I would keep. But if you want to offload it people will generally pay 10 times earnings. Really your site is only worth what someone will pay for it though, so good luck in the sales process!

  • Your sales spiked in December due to Christmas gift shopping, but back down now. So it's likely the over all sales will build more slowly with only occasional spikes around holidays.

It really all depends on your ad copy to be honest. I have seen adsense sites that made $1 a day sell for over $8k because they ranked well for a term that did not have many visitors.

People LOVE Amazon sites however so you may be able to get more than market value.

Did you look at flippa.com yet? Are you on your own domain and hosting. Flippa a great place. You could also put a price and advertise on craiglist but be careful when dealing with them.

Maybe keep it for 6 months or so and then take your average monthly earnings and multiply it by 15 and I would shoot for somewhere around there.

How much time daily does the site take to manage? If you are putting in only one or two hours a week on this site, there's no reason to think you couldn't just leave it open. Possibly you could hire someone to manage this site, rather than selling it or shutting it down as that could guarantee income for you, once the site is consistently profitable.

If it's passive income (the site requires little to no maintenance or updating), I would just keep it to be honest.

Otherwise, typically buyers are looking to pay monthly site income x 12. Some will offer even less so keep that in mind. If serious about selling, I would check out flippa.
