Can you share with me an example of how you'd recommend something on forums to people without looking spammy?
Thanks a lot

Here's a revolutionary idea: establish credibility first by posting quality responses and threads. Only mention your link if it is EXTREMELY RELEVANT to the discussion at hand. Instead of looking for ways to dump your link onto a discussion, focus instead on establishing a reputation as a subject matter expert in your niche.

      Well said.

If you post in a forum to just get a link in front of people...they will see right through you. You really need to know your niche enough to engage with people. Be part of discussions, not just "Thanks that was a great post".

When someone contributes to my knowledge and is PRESENT longer than a couple of posts it peeks my interest and I'll click links to find out more about them.

What makes you click links in a forum?

Don't just answer questions. Post engaging answers. Challenge the readers. It's very easy to fall between the cracks and become another 'me too' poster. People who are successful at forum marketing are very deliberate. They are out to establish themselves as trustworthy BRANDS.

People don't get on forums to post links. People get on forums to get HELP on a specific problem. If you can help people out and not act like a used car salesman than they will see what else you have to offer. Post your link in your signature and forget about it. Get on the forums and contribute as much as you can and in turn you will eventually see results, you must also be consistent.

The best way to promote your url is to find which niche your are promoting. You should promote to IM forum if your url/product is related to it, if not look for forum that is related to your product.

Use this google search string ----- keyword + forum

Now that you have found the forum that is directly directed to your product/service you can start to promote it. You could setup your signature(defends on the forum policy). Join discussions and be sure to provide value to people you are interacting with.

If you are only answering . "Thank you" "Great post". It has no value and you will be flagged as spammer by the moderator. Avoid such kind of reply, but provide great information that members will benefit.

Adding relevant posts to relevant forums when they require. If somebody is asking for a top social media site. Recommend Facebook not dentists.com because this is your site, It is spammy.

I agree with the comments above. Join the forums using the methods outlined above. Provide value. Doesn't mean you have to know everything. Just try to be helpful and fun. When you get to create a signature link, don't even refer to it when you post. Just keep adding value to the forum and people will click to see what you have to offer.

First, start being nice to people.

Next, build a reputation for yourself by creating posts of value.

Next, do not argue with people – even though they may tell you that you are wrong.

Target – you need to keep schedule to post valuable posts almost every day.

Important, keep in mind that Rome was not built in a day.

    All the best. Regards.

The best approach is to find several good forums related to your niche that you like and consider being a long term member of the forum.

Then begin by building up your credibility and then slowly introduce your products.

Always remember to offer good free advice in between your offerings, that way people will see you as someone they can trust and not someone only interested in selling something.

Is forum good for list building? Or just promoting related products in signature?

Don't try to recommend, try to communicate and help. And also try to find a forum that interests you or something relevant to your niche.
