Hey guys,

I've just recieved a cheque from Google Ireland for just over 2000 dollars. I am a bit dubious as it says it is a VAT (like Sales tax) refund for the period 2002 - 2009, but that its apart from an email address that is at a domain called bsdox.

The cheque is Citibank and all fancy and green and seems 100% genuine for a US check.

Problem is....

It's made out to Steve. Not Steven Benn, or Steven Peters Benn, or Steven P Benn. Just Steve.

Is this a con? Has anyone heard of this? It doesn't have a google logo on the page or anything, and it *looks* like it was posted from Sweden even though the address on the envelope is New Jersey. Inside, the address is Google Ireland.

Any ideas people?

    Hey,

Yes it is a con... I got a similar check from a company and first I called the company and they had no record of the check... I believe somehow, when the check bounces, the sender receives account information or something like that...

    Call Google.

Hey LMC - thanks for that. The fact they don't have my last name worried me, and the fact it was posted from sweden but made to look like it came from NJ ...
