I always thought PLR was a tough game because once the first person who buys it puts it on a website or anything that gets indexed by Google, it's not original anymore. Then the only real way to utilize the content is to use it to make ebooks or otherwise.

I think it's just generally an uphill battle. I have no doubt there is money to be made, but it's not something I'd personally do.

Having said that, you may be the perfect candidate to write a killer PLR WSO, so don't let me discourage you

If you will be writing them from scratch, make sure they are free of errors and focused on a particular niche (IM preferrably). Afterwards, compile the articles into an e-book using adobe pdf converter (or whichever one suits you). Then make high quality covers for them and get a good sales copywriter to write a sales copy for you. Make sure to get reviews of your product from warriors before you post your WSO by posting in this forum:

Good income Stream or waste of time? It could be either one.

There's obviously people making money providing high quality PLR content... judging by the number of successful PLR related WSOs, PLR content related launches happening through JVZoo and the number of established PLR content providers that are still around.

But, it could also be a waste of time. Just as there's been successful PLR content launches, I'm sure there's also been unsuccessful launches. I've also noticed some PLR content providers who have closed their PLR stores.

I realize that this isn't much of an answer, but it's like any business... it could be very profitable, but it could also end up in you making a loss.

But, there are things that you could do, that increases your chances of success. For example:
*differentiating yourself from other PLR content providers
*providing PLR content on topics not covered by other PLR content providers
*having a solid base (whether that's affiliates who can promote your content, partnerships with other PLR content providers, an existing audience that would be interested in PLR content etc.)

Do some research and see if PLR sells. I have been buying plr for over 8 years now and I am not about to stop!

Not everyone has the time to create products, sales pages, graphics, download pages and so on.

For a considerable length of time PLR has been one of the top keywords at Warrior Plus.

It's all about finding your target market. You are not trying to sell to everyone online ;-)

I think it is best used as a short cut to creating your own product or perhaps occasionally content in your email, that in itself is not an uphill battle-it's a short cut.

I think it can also be good to create them as bonuses to your products or do firesales if you have a reason why it is a limited time offer. (Such as an OTO right after they opt into your list.)

If you want to just straight up sell PLR or MRR as is...
The best thing to do is put it on your website as a sub-domain but put up all the sales letter stuff they provide to create a nice sales page, then have it so that they have to opt in to your list to finalize the purchase, then sell it for really low, then sign up for JVZoo and let affiliates sell it for you from there. That way you got a very decent shot at getting free traffic to opt in to your list.

PLR is a money maker for sure. Most people think, that buying 100k PLR products for 99 cents on ebay, then reselling it as is, will make them a ton of money, that is nonsense.

If you create your own PLR, you can make good money. There are people who make 6 figures selling PLR, so I can't see why you would not make money with it

Maybe it will work, maybe not. But personally, I wouldn't buy it unless I was just really pressed for time. There are just so many ways to produce unique/original content these days e.g. manually, automated tools, etc. that using unoriginal shared PLR content would just not appeal to me as something I would purchase. But again, maybe some people would. You're being wise by asking around, but you also might have to run a small test and really find out if people will put their money where their mouth is or is it just a buncha talk. PLR used to be extremely hot back in the day, but all I've been seeing it do over the years is die a slow death.

Just look at previous WSO's. You'll find that PLR content is popular provided it is topical (Christmas, etc.) or functional - like website content, graphics, software, plugins, templates.

I mean..... err... no... theres no money to be made.... none whatsoever.... plr is dead.... :-/

If you can write high-quality PLR articles that people will want to share with others then you can make money. There seems to be a lack of quality niche PLR that list builders and bloggers would want to use. Some people think that all they have to do is write a worthless article to make money.

P.S. Share samples of your work with bloggers and list builders. If they like it then they might hire you.

I think it can be a good income stream but only if you are providing high quality content. I personally buy a ton of PLR content and use it to create content to drive traffic to my sites.

I'd like to say "no" because then there would be less competition and more moolah in my pocket. hee hee!

I know several marketers who write PLR and sell it and they make a very nice living. Talk to Tiffany Lambert (used to be Dow) and research it a bit. There are a lot of PLR stores on the Internet, but the key here, all of them do not write GOOD PLR. There is a need for GOOD PLR
If you like to research, and write and are good at it, you will do well.
You should give it a try! You won't know until you try.
By the way, PLR should always be rewritten when using on blogs or the Internet

Well I suppose "money-maker" is relative. Can you make money, yes. Can you make a lot, sure if you get good, just like anything else.

With that said, maybe I'm biased, but I always prefer to create my own content and build longer term assets and brands rather than creating content for other people to sell. I'm not saying you can't build a brand as a PLR person (many people do), but I would suspect it's probably a little more challenging.

PLR is good only when it is QUALITY. I have a few PLR products that I have purchased in the past. So the key to selling PLR products on WF is to make sure you are selling quality and not garbage that the gives the purchaser a bad rep, or will never be able to sell himself. Through WF you can search for in demand topics, and build a PLR based around that to give you ideas what people want.

It is possible to make money from PLR. Just like anything else, it takes time and requires you to have really good quality in your articles. Though I have a few other websites, I just started to venture into this area and am learning the ropes but there is a high probability to make money. But I thing what AntonioSeegars1 said is right. If you're also showing them or providing them with information on how they can also make money from the PLR that you're selling, then your chances to make money increases drastically.

If you're selling PLR for AR chains or for Webinar purposes, you should be fine. However, if you're selling to people who'll use it for SEO, it would be a bit more challenging. There's still money to be made in PLR, but it would employ different processes and the overall dynamics will be different.

Thought I would chime in as I just made another sale on a PLR product.

You can make money but just as everyone else has said it needs to be quality work and it devalues the more times you sell it.

I wrote articles for a client ages ago, ended up not being paid so I wrapped them up in 2 PLR packs and put them on Jvzoo. To be honest I have done no marketing other than posting a thread on here and a link in my signature (I don't post on WF too often, mega busy these days) and I make a few sales here and there.

That is without doing anything. I made another sale last night and to be honest I had forgotten the articles were even still on sale.

OK, it isn't mega bucks but you make a few dollars here and there now and again and you add it into your accounts at the end of the month.

I have no doubt that if you put actual consistent work into PLR (i.e. the exact opposite of what I have been doing) then it can be pretty profitable.

I had put this idea on hold for a while but I keep coming back to it...I really do think the key is to have high quality material. I myself have bought junk in the past but I've also bought great PLR....and guess what? I've bought several packages from that high quality PLR seller...time and time again...which is what gave me the idea of getting into this myself.

I've hired excellent writers on Elance in the past and they charged me $10-$15 per 500-600 word article. This may sound steep but the quality was impeccable. If I hired these writers again and invested a few hundred dollars, I think the potential is there to make a generous profit.

I'm not interested in selling crap - just in demand, high quality articles. Re-reading this thread has given me hope to pursue this.

Selling PLR can make you a lot of money if you teach your customers how to use it properly. They should not just take it as it is and plug it into books or websites but rewrite it extensively and change graphics too. Most people who buy PLR need it only as a guideline so they can get some inspiration and direction then they customize it to their own style.
