The ONE question

As entrepreneurs, business owners, and managers we are deeply involved with many aspects of our business, and with that comes many questions. If you boiled it down to ONE question that you feel would help move your business forward the most, which would it be?

Let's go beyond the typical "how do I get my first customer", "how do I get traffic", or "how do I build a list" type of questions. Many threads on this forum already address those topics, so let us help each other by providing useful, practical answers to each other's questions.

  • How can I help you?

Whatever business you're in, that question and how you answer it will determine your long-term success.

    • Along the same lines as the poster above me...

Where is there a huge need to be filled ... and how can I fill that need? Do I have the skills to fill that need? Where can I learn those skills?
    • I absolutely agree that this is a very important question, and will help in a great measure to boost anyones business, offline and online. Along the same lines are questions like:

What introductions would be helpful to you?
Who are you looking for right now? (type of clients, new employees, etc.)

But what about the questions that are on your mind when you wake up in the morning, and the answer for your business need still seems to elude you? Maybe there would be someone here that can help!
  • How to I get the motivation to keep learning, and persisting with positive actions and a degree of certainty in those actions that will achieve success? If you can answer that then you're on your way.
  • Providing service and support is the single most important aspect of just about any internet based business, which is sort of baffling when you look at some of the big product launches where support is either missing or does not really address the buyers concerns.

I have noticed this over and over again where the seller even posts in the WSO thread about how they are so over whelmed by all the requests for support and I think really?

All that tells me is that either the product was not really ready for release or they did not have support personal in place to handle the support requests.

All in all I would rather be like the maytag repair man...
  • how can i deliver value?
  • I was thinking more along the lines of "How can I separate you from your money?"

Seriously, though - I don't think there is or ever can be just ONE question to drive your business forward. However, here's one that might work: "What is holding my business back right now?".
  • How do I get all the traffic from Warrior forum to come to my site and buy my stuff?

  • Why ... am I doing this? By reminding myself of that constantly, it forces me to maintain integrity to my clients and list, and stick to projects when the going gets tough.

    • I think this is a very good question we all should stop and ask ourselves at time. The WHY of the business influences every aspect of the business from values to decision making, and everything else. If we forget the WHY it's kinda like trying to find a new place without a map or point of reference.

How does my business maintain/have its staying power in its niche market?

Every business will have to confront this concern on how it can maintain its success on its chosen niche. How it can continue to satiate its customers' needs? How it can continue to evolve despite its stability in the market? Staying power is something that not just actors/actresses worry about but also established businesses/corporations.
