Are you building a list for your amazon review websites?

I have a site which reviews products from the electrical category.

The thing is, when someone buys this product, it's the kind of product they wouldn't by again since it's the kind of product which would last for years.

Also it's a kind of product which doesn't have much else related to it.

For example: if I promoted treadmills, I could promote health and fitness related products but since this product hasn't got much to related to, what do you think I should do?

I have just made a free giveaway already in a PDF for my list if I decide to start building one. I have a plan and that's to build the list, give the free PDF away then contact them once every 3 days 12 times to send them to the review site on some hot products which in turn would increase traffic and hopefully sales.

Also asking them to "like" facebook and follow me on twitter.

The site I have gets around 100 unique visitors a day and increasing, also just hit page 1 for my main keyword, so would you build a list and how would you promote?

Thanks for your time

Larry

Thats not my niche, I used that as an example of what I could do if I was in the treadmill niche, the problem I'm having is that it's the kind of product people buy once and it's not related to anything else as such.

lol ya i know, but heres some ideas. think of the most popular types of people that would buy that kind of product. heres some examples

Product: Power generators > follow up with survival/prepper stuff
Product: bike > follow up with a gopro camera or bike phone mount

I don't agree with that. Building a list is a good idea no matter of what kind of marketing you are doing. I really like the idea of asking them to like and share your Facebook page. I would set up a Facebook fan page around the product/niche (if you haven't already) and by adding people to a list and then asking them to visit and "like" your page, you will generate more traffic to the page and hopefully get them to click through to your blog, where you can then sell them a product, add them to your list, or both.

The good thing about products that save people money or provide some other useful service is that you have a wide range of people who could be interested. And once you start to build a fan base on your Facebook page, you could start boosting posts and reach an even wider audience. This should generate more traffic to your blog.

And if it's a product that saves homeowners money on their electric bill let's say, or an electrical tool or appliance that folks need, there is nothing standing in your way of promoting other products that benefit homeowners such as real estate products, solar, mortgage/finance/credit, carpentry, internet television, etc, etc. You could even start promoting physical products from Amazon.

What I'm saying is that once you add them to your list I don't think the gig is up once you sell them that one product. Homeowners/renters are interested in a wide variety of products that would save them money and enhance their home.

BTW, congrats on getting to page 1 for your keyword. My advice is to find another related keyword and get ranked for that, and then rinse and repeat.

Hey thanks!! Yeah my other big keyword is on page 2 and moving up slowly, I like to build links slowly and good links too, works a treat.

Yeah I am promoting a specific kind of product and I sold a lot last month due to it being Christmas and this month so far I seem to be not far away from last months earnings which is good.

I have a facebook, twitter and Google+ profile all set up already.

I have some ideas but it's slightly difficult to come up with ways to promote things and give value at the same time.

    Hey Larry,
I don't think its ever unwise to build a list. Assuming your particular product lasts for years, are there any accessories that owners may want down the road? Seeing as its with Amazon, I'd search your product and scroll down until you find the 'what people who bought this also bought' section.

This will give you some insight into what else your customers are searching for. And then you can start delivering some free content on that as a way to build a list. Plus you'll be able to consider other product lines to pitch to your current list.

A list is gold - nurture it and find out what its after.

    Hope this helps!

Hey! Well, am a step a head of yeah I had a look earlier but there are some accessories but are very small things which I don't think would be worth but I would like to build a list for this but only if it's going to increase sales, traffic and social.

      Thanks

There has to be other products that these types of people buy. Even if it's not an accessory or something extremely closely related.

Think of the demographic of your visitor. What else do people in this demographic like and buy? What do other people who buy this product like to do?

You'll probably find if you look into it a lot of these people are rather similar in their interests and purchasing patterns. You can follow up with related information on subjects of interest with product recommendations mixed in.
