Traffic from forums - is there such a thing in 2014?

Hi, got hold on some pretty fresh (end 2013) tutorials that would rely heavily on traffic from forums.

"Keep adding useful content and have your link in signature," they say.

I googled for forums in Home improvement and Fitness niches, and spent quite a time visiting them.

But I found none allowing signature links.

I would have been grateful even for just one or two allowing a post link after, say 50 or let it be 100 posts. None of them did.

So I wonder if anyone has had some better experience finding forums where you can contribute and get some traffic in return?

Sorry, but there will be no traffic from forums again until 2015 possibly 2016

    Again I am sorry

I'm not currently in either of those niches, so I can't offer any help there. But my only advice would be to keep hunting. There are so many forums and blogs out there - there have to be a few that allow signature links. Sometimes you have to join a membership site to get on their forum. I haven't spent much time looking for them, but I know I found another internet marketing forum where you have to post 25 times in order to place a link in your comment or post. I'm still working on those 25.

awwww, there out there! Change and play around with your keywords a bit. You'll find a few!

Yeah, forum marketing is actually growing by the numbers. More and more businesses network through forums today.

Also check out all the major retailers in your industry online and chances are a few of them might have a forum online you could particapate in.

Forum traffic isn't going away. But if you're not having success finding forums where you can post and leave a signature link, there's another option.

Provided the info (tutorials) you have in easily transferable to article format, you could post in authority sites within your niche. Try this (I have and it works remarkably):

in a search engine, enter the following
    'your niche' write for us

You'll get a list of sites looking for people to contribute content. And to date every one I've worked with has allowed a signature link and followed my social media info once I contributed.

    Hope this helps!

This worked indeed. I found a couple of sites in just minutes that accepted both my content and my link . Thank you so very much for your helpful advice.

Only that's not the Forum story.

I need no signature links. This is the only forum where I see them work. I think they're switched off everywhere else. And I'm not in IM niche, so no much help from them even here. I'm not using them, either.

But I would love to get involved with some forum that would allow me to post some external link now and then. Those don't always need to be my backlinks. I feel good even posting links to competitors' facilities if their content supports what I'm trying to say

Forum marketing is among the best traffic you can get. In nearly all of my niches forum traffic converts at a very high rate.

I will research which forums to use for that niche. I keep thorough records of everything I have done in the past. I will let you know when I find it.

I am not surprised that you are having trouble finding the proper forums. It can be difficult and I have had similar problems. Each niche is different but keep searching. The idea of using various keywords makes sense. Once you find what you need you can be assured that the traffic you get will be good, targeted traffic.

Forum marketing is excellent method, you just have to search and sift, and accept it when some sites say "no" to links. Pick your niche, search for forums that target that niche, sort by traffic and Alexa position.

Select the top ten or so sites that will let you post links, and save their rule info as to when/how. Conduct your forum marketing based on that crop of sites---you don't have to have access to all the forums in your niche, just this representative batch. With a bit of intelligent posting, soon you'll have high converting traffic rolling in.

In the Fitness niche I had great results by leaving comments on Youtube (through my own Youtube Fitness channel) and on Facebook (through my own FB page)...on related videos and pages.

If you stay on topic and say something nice, chances are that you will make the Top Comments area, and then a lot of people will get to your channel/page.

Thank you for this great piece of advice! I'm very new to Youtube channels and Facebook fan page things. But this makes sense to me. I will try it out.

So what you do, am I getting you right, is e.g. using Facebook as one of your pages, searching for pages on similar topics and commenting there? I've done that occasionally, too, but without putting much faith in it.

You've encouraged me to return to this technique. Thanks again.

But this is again something different than forums. Those papers I'm reading refer to forum posting as an easy method if not the easiest of all. So I wonder if that's complete BS or there's something wrong in the way I go about it.

So for example, one of the papers I read had something with wickedness to do. It's title was Wickedly Simple Blueprint or close to that.

That was a story about setting up a basic website, and that part was simple indeed. But then it was suggested to find some forums, post a link in the signature and, yes, write posts. And it should be enough with just that when it comes to traffic.

I believe that a blueprint can be only as simple as its most complex step is simple. When now even finding a forum that would allow a link here and there is getting so advanced, then I think it needed to be called "wickedly tangled" instead? And I'm not even speaking of signature links at all.

Am I not searching the same Internet as everyone else? Or could it be search methods that suck?

It's a pity, of course, that I cannot get in. Involvement in forums sounds like a decent method.

But thank you for reassuring me that it's worth doing. Let's see what I can find

Yes, that's right. But it only works if you say something interesting and make the Top 3 comments. It's enough to get a few Likes in the first place, then more and more people will see your comment and more and more will Like it and so on...

So if your comment is good enough it will remain the Top Comment for a long time and drive people to your page. This works quite well on Facebook and it used to work great on Youtube...until they've changed the comments system. You can still make the Top Comments though, but it's a little more difficult.

For more useful stuff that could help you in the Fitness niche, you can check out the website in my signature. You will find lists of popular Fitness Pages on Facebook, popular websites to leave comments on, websites that accept Guest posts and much more.

Normally you have to get involved with forums first and then they will allow it :-)

Although on a couple of my forums I only allow certain links :-)

But if you get forum marketing right you will do very well :-)

About 60% of my traffic comes from forums (the WF in particular).

I've also found that forums are a fantastic way to gain high quality leads and new clients.

I can't help giving u an exact site to post because I'm not on fitness niche but if you keep hard I'm sure you will find a good fitness forum with signatures allowed.

Also (and meanwhile) you can try guess posts!

I think you just need to search more in depth.

That is a pretty huge niche with A LOT of forums. I'm sure there will be some that allow signature links.

It's true that some forums do not allow you to leave your signature. These are especially in some kind of niches that are specific. But this does not mean that you will not be able to find. Try to search more. There are forum search engines where it will search for forums. Try searching out there.
I've had same problem for writing forums or screenplay but after a more search I have found. Continue searching until you find some.

There's probably less forums that allow links in that niche because the fitness niche has been been flooded with IM spam for decades.

Try this. Decide what you want your signature to be. Then just make you include it at the end of each post you make in the forum. This assumes that you are not violating the forums terms of service.

This has two advantages. One, you can leave "signatures" on forums that don't allow them. Two, you will be able to leave a "signature" immediately instead of waiting to get your post count up to the level were they are allowed.

I really like this idea! However, have you ever tried this before?

I would worry that the people on the forums, and the mods would view you as a spammer right from the start. You will then have to work extra hard to convince the community that you are there to give excellent advice out....That would be my main concern.

    Have you typed into google:

    Forum: bodybuilding
    Forum: women bodybuilding

Typing in the word "forum" (not forums) will bring up all of the available forums for you.

Also, you may want to consider jumping on the crossfit train...that's a big one, and I know they have a huge CF forum.

Edit: you could also target MMA forums since many guys "train MMA" primarily to get ripped.

Unfortunately, most forums that allow signatures are in money making niches. And about of the active members on these sites are too busy promoting their own offers to recognize yours. You might want to try promoting your offers on groups.
