How would you monitize this?

Sup guys,

Recently I started a niche website and got it into top 3 of google on the main keyword. Since then I've been getting quite a bit of traffic. Get around 30k unique visitors a month. It's a site in the watching series/movies online niche.

Now, here's my problem. I made it just good enough to rank (3 pages) and I've done that now. I applied for NetFlix and got accepted. That was my plan at first, but then I heard I don't get commission for NetFlix users who sign up from my country. (Europe) Quite a bummer.

Adsense is really bad too. In keyword planner it said $2 cpc, (so actual profit would be around $1,50 ish) well, it's not the case. CPC is around 10 cents. So that's no option either. Anyone got an idea how I could monitize this?

BTW: I'm from a country in Europe, so no Hulu, LoveFilm etc. here. Just some general idea's how you'd go about monetizing this.

Much appreciated!

Partner with someone in the U.S. There are lots of ways around your predicament. Get a little creative. You are facing a very minor obstacle.

How can I get around this 'obstacle', Steve? It's not like I can change my European users to US users.

It's quite a crappy site at the moment. I just got it to #1 and #2 on some good keywords. Didn't do much on the website itself. No business would want to advertise on that kind of website.

If it's getting traffic, people will buy ads.

Most of those "watch TV on your PC" crap doesn't sell that well.
True. I did some testing about five years ago. There are too many free alternatives.

I'm not too familiar with the CPA idea. Could you give me an example? Or I'm not familiar with the acronym.
CPA = Cost Per Action. You get paid when a visitor completes an action, like opting in, downloading free trial software, etc. You get paid even if the visitor never buys anything.

This. There are a lot of CPA offers for "watch tv from your computer" which pay rather well for installs, and will convert well for you.

Give it a go for a few days, i think you will be suprised.

Funny thing is, I did try it. It was 30$ and I get 12$/sale. I got like 400 clicks a day and didn't get any sales from it. Had it for a week then took it off.

Nope, ou are thinking of a clickbank offer i think.

A cpa offer should not cost your user anything. CPA is cost per action, meaning if they enter there email adress, or download the software, you get some dosh.

I still think the CPA idea could work provided you want to spend the time to improve the site which in your own admission isn't that great.
Shame to waste all the nice traffic you're getting.

Affiliate products related to your niche could also be a consideration. There's a ton of merchandise / swag related to popular tv shows and movies, and with the site getting the traffic it is you'd have no trouble being approved.

But most people know NetFlix and wont be as hesitant pulling out their credit cards. Most of those "watch TV on your PC" crap doesn't sell that well.

How about redbox or amazon prime? Don't know if they have affiliate programs for their streaming, but both are trying to compete with hulu and netflix

You simply need to split test some offers, you have the traffic so after even a month you will be able to see what is working. You can test cpa, affiliate offers and even sell links on the site if you are ranking.

Also depends on your demographics, my kids drive me crazy looking for these watch tv online channels as some sites have lots of adware. This market wont be buying anything as they are too young but may ask their parents to buy a membership if it is a legit site. And from experience they will often click on CPA ads.

Of the 30k visitors how many click on affiliate links ? What is your adsense ctr ?

Just out of curiosity, how long did it take you to get that much traffic? That's quite impressive!

I'd sign up for Affiliate Window. They are excellent prompt payment and a massive range of affiliates. I'd think veritical as well as horizontal in terms of products. So look at promoting electrical affiliates that sell TV's, IPADs etc.
