Old or new products, what's the different?

Hello, I'm pretty new into IM and about to create my first site. I've been looking at clickbank for products to promote, the thing is, what's the different between a product that was launch 2 years ago and a brand new product that has just been launch? Which one should I go for?

IM moves very fast. Especially in the IM market. People follow trends. By leveraging a new product launch you can benefit from the surge of traffic. After that things seem to slow down a bit especially if you have marketers with very large list promoting the offers. Dont get me wrong you can always find new people with this tool but it just takes a little more time.

Thats one of the biggest problems in this industry is everybody is going for the fast, easy money so they are always buying the next big product that comes out hoping its the magic solution. Thats why the surge of traffic.

If you are new then I would pick a good quality product with a low refund rate and I would build my business around that and start to build myself a subscriber base. Once you learn how to leverage the traffic sources that are available to you then you can jump around and leverage these new rushes of traffic when a new product comes out but first...

I pretty much agree with Epoltrack77. I'll just add my own opinions, too.

The most important consideration, in my opinion, is not whether you should use a new or an old product, but which product offers your target audience the most value. Consider an example. Some audiences will want the best gaming experience; in this case, the most value comes when you suggest to them the very latest product (Xbox One, for instance). But sometimes value doesn't increase over time. And, remember, value is not always related to how technologically advanced a product is, but - well - how a product makes you feel. Take me, for example. I prefer classic cars. Given a choice between the new BMW and a 1957 Plymouth Fury, the latter is more valuable to me.

Yes it depends on the market. In IM you really need to keep an idea on the shelf life of a product. While the broad outlines change little over time, specifics can change quite rapidly.

With SEO, for instance, I would want to be right on top of the market.

    Willbear,

I agree with Epoltrack77, Victoria Stone and Danny McConnell.

I think when starting out you need a main product that isn't time restricted. An example right now is that facebook adverts are working very well. I use them and they work well for me and a lot of other people - HOWEVER when facebook adverts get really crowded this might not be the case, no on really knows.

What we do know is that solo ads from other peoples lists will be around for a long time, so if you promote something to do with solo ads it is more likely to be a stable product but a facebook marketing product will probably get more sales right now.

So really it depends on how quickly you are prepared to adapt and change your approach, I would suggest if you are starting out to start with something stable as it means you will get something done instead of spending hours trying to find the best possible product to promote.

    I hope this helps!

That's a very open ended question.

Whether a product's age is important depends on the niche. For example, will you buy a iPhone 3G today when the tech is already 5 years old?

The folks on this forum is helpful. But, I've learnt that if I want better answers, sometimes I've got to ask better questions. You can start by telling us the general niche that you're intending to target.
