How to promote post and get traffic immediately?

Hi, I was wondering what people's routines are for promoting post right after they go live on your site.

Right now I'm posting mine to Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and Stumble Upon. But I know there must be so many more ways to get traffic to a post.

What is your routine websites you go to promote post?

Start conversations about it on relevant forums. NOTE: you have to have an account that is credible and has a decent post count to pull this off.

  In my experience, social bookmarking traffic is JUNK. Increases your bounce, decreases your avg. visit duration and pageviews per visit, and is simply not worth a cent.

Majority of my traffic comes from Social Networking Sites. As soon as my blog is published, I get my backlinks from Twitter, Facebook, Google+, YouTube, Reddit, Pinterest, etc. Sometimes I also publish them on Free Web 2.0s, my favorite one is blogger because I get a lot of traffic from there. Then after that, I ping my links in order to let google know that I have a new blog that is published.

Promoting isn't a tough job if you have 'the best' content, you are a 'better writer' and of course you should have your own blog. You are trying to promote your posts through social media. So, here are some questions I'd like to ask.

1. Who are your friends? Will they love your posts?
2. Do you expect them share your posts?
3. Who's your target audience?

Don't worry if you get no answer. I advice you to read these posts, I promise they can help you.

Send to your email list of course!

Then I post in select forums where the post is valuable to members.

Reddit, Delicious

I make a YouTube video out of the post

I comment on all other blog posts I can find online, that are related to the post, and drop a link to my post

I make a pdf of the post and upload to Scribed, Slideshare, DocStock

I make a press release of the post and upload to pr.com, prlog and 24-7pressrelease

  A press release can drive some great traffic to it.
  
  Just avoid the free sites - they'll host targeted ads next to your press release and essentially drive traffic to your competitors!

  I like slideshare and youtube myself. Just create an article and split it up into a nice slide show of ideas. Slideshare works for almost any niche from what i have seen.
  
  Same for youtube. If you want to go minimum quality do a slideshow with voice over. To gain traction with either platform, however, you're going to need quality material that's worth having eye balls and ears open to receive.
  
  For that "immediate" part to be fulfilled I'd have the slideshow and youtube video created at the same time i posted, so it's almost instant traffic :p
  
  Do this daily, rinse and repeat. In all fairness i do this for the traffic rather than the SEO effect.
