Buying Email Data...Anyone doing it for CPA offers?

I've started to dig deeper and deeper into getting email data (name/email) via list brokers and doing mailers promoting CPA offers.
Are you having any success with this method?
It seems incredible the opportunity if you know where to get good data and finding servers to mail from that aren't blacklisted (which most aren't by default).
Anyway, I'd love to here about your experience with it as well as any advice you have with it. Maybe a case study of profit from the project (amount for list, servers and profit) if you can - if not, that's OK too.
