What can I expect from this business model?

I'm new to IM and have been reading a lot lately, here in the forum and other sources.

It all seems to come down to two opinions: those who go with the squeeze page > list building > email marketing (affiliate offers) system and those who say that content creation is the way to go - own info-product, authority sites, etc.

Right now, I like the former route a lot more. It seems more realistic for me as a beginner. I know it's very hard work but feels doable, while creating products or authority sites sounds daunting.

I know the real big money is in the content, but for now I'd like to ask you this: is it a realistic goal to pursue a full-time income without auth sites/blogs or creating own products?

Thank you.

My honest opinion is that being an affiliate for someone else's product
is a much less daunting task than trying to become highly skilled at all
the varied tasks that will be required to become successful with your
own product. If you're new to this profession I think it's a good idea to
learn how to sell a product before you need to worry about learning all
    the rest of it.

    Do both.

    - Drive traffic to a squeeze page giving out a free report you wrote.
    - Monetize the free report with affiliate links.
    - After people subscribe send them to a your presell page promoting an affiliate product
that best matches what you give out for free on your squeeze page.

then start working on your own offer to replace the presell page

As a newcomer with no authority you'll struggle to make a mark by throwing up a squeeze page, offering a freebie and sending emails to people.

People don't know you, they don't trust you and they don't want to know you. Why should they?

Forcing them to give up their email address just so you can show them some free ebook you knocked together in 5 minutes isn't going to help with that.

The ones that do give up the email addy will often stick in fake emails or ones they rarely check.

When you get correct emails the majority will unsubscribe or never read your follow up emails anyway.

    However....

If you build a blog or website with a ton of upfront value that shows you know what you're talking about, help them solve their problems without asking for anything in return first, and build a relationship with them things change.

They will willingly opt into your list and open your emails. They will trust you enough to buy from you whether that's your own product or ones you recommend as an affiliate.

You'll get much further this way.

Of course you have to actually know what you're talking about though. If you don't then no one will care either way.

I'm new to internet marketing aswell. The way i'm approaching it is learning the basics of email marketing, squeeze pages, list building , keyword research, SEO and the sort, whilst working on building a rich content blog in my niche. Content is king, I would much rather be helping people with valuable content than making money off them to start. Whatever way you go I don't think it will matter, if you run into problems, learn from your problems and understand how to do things better.

Start with promoting affiliate offers, it's a faster way to begin. Write your own autoresponder series, provide epic content in the autoresponder itself and recommend related products you've used and had personal experience with.

Once you have money rolling in, you can focus your time on developing your own products.

I'd avoid the authority site route unless there is something you're really passionate that you'd actually enjoy creating constant content about - oh, there must be lots of other people passionate about it too...

So yes, the freebie or product creation routes are the best. Personally, I like the idea of creating a low priced products for list building, that weeds out the tire kickers that just want free stuff.

Just remember to know how to treat your list from day 1. A good blend of value and promotions and regular mails so that they don't forget who you are.

    Hi,

You can learn a lot by looking at how a sales funnel works when you
choose to promote a PROVEN & HIGH converting affiliate offer.

Of course you can build your list at the same time by placing a squeeze
page in front of the affiliate offer and collecting the email address first.

If you do have any experience in any areas that you can share your past
results/experiences from by creating a product around it then I would
suggest YOU SERIOUSLY look at creating a product as soon as you can.

People don't realize how much of a positive knock on effect creating
    your own products can have.

Others will always naturally start to follow you once they know that
    you have created products before.

Especially if they are to a very high standard and really help others to achieve
a particular GOAL or solve a problem quickly.

Of course affiliate marketing can allow you to get up and running fast and
you could easily start sending traffic to an affiliate offer today if you have
a budget to spend on traffic.

    All the best
    Gavin

    Hi,

Do not just send marketing email.

You must creat an interaction with your futur clients.
It's not a simple exchange, they will see you like a mentor.
You should give a nice content, and like this, your visitor believe in you. After it's more easy to sell.

You say you are a beginner. Developing your own product is definitely not the easiest thing to do. Even for some experienced marketers this can be a daunting task.

When I created my first product it really opened my eyes to how much work it actually entails and is necessary to succeed at obtaining your goal.

You should start by being an affiliate. You'll learn a lot and it'll teach you a lot when you want to actually put together your product.

Also, you'll want to start with a squeeze page, offer a free report or valuable information for their email address. And then have an email sequence going back and forth of great content and offering your affiliate product.

    Bill
