Wordpress Login Issues

I created a website with wordpress a while ago then my computer crashed. So I bought a new computer but I lost my login information including username to the wordpress site.

Is there a way to get this information through my server? I used Fantastico to install the site but cannot find the login information anywhere.

Thanks

In your cPanel, go to PHPMyAdmin, and click on your database name in the left-hand column. Scroll down to the line in the left column that says "users", and click on it. On the right side of the page, it will show your user name and a string of letters and numbers for the password, where you can edit it. Just click on the password portion, erase it and type in what you want to use, and click on Save.

If you have lost your cPanel login information, your host should be able to reset it for you. Good luck.

Make sure you choose the MD5 hash when saving your password in phpmyadmin; otherwise, the pw you enter at your wordpress login won't match.

It's easy, but possibly tedious. Just go to the source for several possible solutions

...Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just set there.

Do you still use the same email address you originally set up the wp site on with your hosting?

If so, go to www.ursite.com/wordpress/wp-admin (or where you installed it) and use the "forgot my password/username" option on the login page to get your details emailed to you.

If you can't remember the location - use filezilla ftp - login to your hosting and find it's location that way, or via cpanel.

While you are in PHP admin you may as well set the password as well and then you don't need to retrieve it.

I have had to do this a few times with amazon sites I had set and then forgotten...

You can find how-to videos by searching YouTube that show exactly how to do it. "Reset WP password in cpanel"

If you haven't been in PHPAdmin before it can be a bit intimidating but resetting a WP password is very straightforward. It's a good way to get over that fear and learn a little how your WP DB is set up.
