      • I'd put this $30 to $40K in the bank and use it to fund several months of our family's monthly expenses.

Then, I'd add 50% of what I get from my ICT company's monthly net profits, supposedly for our family's monthly expenses, to our savings.

As for the remaining 50% from monthly company net profits that were supposedly for our family's monthly expenses, I'd save up several months of this and use it as a downpayment for a low rise commercial building at a bustling business area here in Manila with low land rates and high rent rates, which I'll lease to some of our local clients with growth and expansion plans this year, for that lease income to cover monthly amortization plus a generous profit margin, with a small part of those funds going to building management and maintenance, and a large part of that going to savings.

After I do the things above and there's still some of the $30 to $40K left in the bank to fund our family's monthly expenses for the next few months or so, I'd then use the remaining 50% monthly company net profits to hire more employees so as to sign up new contracts with our clients.

In my free time and say with just a few hundred $$$ per month or so, I'll implement affiliate product profitability tests via custom audience Facebook advertising, in order to identify affiliate products that can give me generous profit margins from my Facebook PPC investments and landing site maintenance costs, so I can invest more into those that give me the best profit margins...

A PAMM account is an investment account, where the trader manages all client accounts at once. He makes the trades and those are being copied to all client's accounts. I'm able to make 5-20% with it per month, sometimes its less, sometimes more, but 5%+ is a pretty safe expectation, if you find the right one.

What sane person is going to give 10k to charity just cause he has 30k in his bank.

Let's keep it short, assuming you have an online based business that made you the $30k-$40k, I would move to a warm / tropical country.

Get a nice house on the water (rent), buy a speed boat, a car. Rent out the speed boat and car in case you don't need it too often (motorbike is fine to get around most of the week).

Offer the boat / car etc on the internet, organize private tours perhaps, offer taxi services (obvious hire locals to perform it for you), once you're into online holiday promotion stuff start to promote hotels / flights / sightseeing tours and build yourself a travel empire. There's big money into it, work yourself up to be the provider of everything that you promote. Buy guest houses, buy more boats, charter planes and so on.

ps: I would recommend to wait a little with buying the speed boat till you have a bit more money and make sure that you buy the speed boat primarly for yourself, if you don't like it then skip that whole or part of the plan. I always loved to have my own speed boat so for me it's only logical to follow this path so I wouldn't be sad if the rent a private boat business didn't work out.

Secondary plan that's on my mind for quite some time.

Import containers from China, ship them to Amazon's fulfillment centers and let them sell it.

I would highly recommend that you don't go blind here. I know some importers in Holland from my previous business so I would obvious use their contacts to make sure the quality is okay. Just going to China to check it yourself is often not sufficient as it might look all nice and well but that's no guarantee that the exact same product/quality ends up in your container.

Before I would buy the container I would setup some Amazon affiliate sites for a very similar product to figure out whether it sells or not. Products in your country might not be as popular in the US.

If you don't know any importers on a personal level you can always buy from the wholesalers, sell it on the internet yourself, make a bit of money and get the contacts. No wholesaler is gonna act difficult when you plan to sell containers in a complete different country.

Every once in a while someone asks a question like this. Each time someone does I think to myself, the person who asks it didnt think it through before they asked.. and everyone who answers with some investment strategy didnt think through there answer.

Really this is a no brainer question:

I would invest it in expanding what ever I did to get the $30K in the first place. Why? Easy, because I know 100% for sure it works.

What if someone had to die for you to get the $30K to $40K? Would you invest more in convincing others to leave you that sort of money when they die, more in killing those who already made the move, or more in life insurance company shares?

If someone had to DIE for you to get the money: That is you didnt earn it yourself then you should not invest it at ALL in any kind of business venture. Because you have no experience and will likely just loose it. Be it IM, a restaurant, a retail store, anything, if you didn't earn the money, and instead try some sort if business venture then you are likely just throwing it away.

It appears to me that one of your two end-spectrum scenarios (in your original post) is for the person to have accumulated $30 to $40K solely through investment and business ventures, and the other one of your scenarios (your most recent post above) seems to treat inheriting money and not having significant experience in earning money like they're non-mutually exclusive things. Well, vague hypothetical questions mostly tend to generate different answers based on a million or more possibilities, but:

Are you trying to set "universal" boundaries for this vague hypothetical question by creating two end-spectrum scenarios that should be followed by everyone when answering the vague hypothetical question of the OP? If so, this just appears to me as an effort on your part to possibly justify your claims of others who gave their answers in this thread before your original post as people incapable of carefully thinking before posting...

You can't buy much property for $30-40k, of course there is countries where you can get a house for that, but it would be a waste. If to invest in developing countries, the best investments are beach locations, no matter where. And they cost way beyond $30k, even though they are still 10-20x cheaper than the already famous beach locations. Would you invest in a house in Detroit? Because you can get a house pretty much for free there...I don't think so...same with shitty locations in developing countries.

  • Most of you need to change how you think about business. If you don't know what you're going to do with 30k then you don't know what to do with $300.

If you gave Ryan Deiss 30k he wouldn't be saying things like "take a couple years off" "get a local offline business" etc. He would put it into marketing or hiring other good people for his team.

Sure it's a hypothetical question but if you don't know how to spend money then you don't know how to make it.

    1) buy some stocks. The market is in a bull market and will increase on average over the next year or so.

    2) Then with the other money invest in some PPC and build a list and nurture that list, and make cash flow this way.

I do both these, but number 2 I make five figures a month on clickbank. Yes it will take some work, but harrd work = $

    BA,
There. Now, from what I understand about Barry's post above, especially from his line here: "I just wanna hear what ideas would be good and what would be most profitable," it's probably a vague hypothetical question that may have just been thrown there to sort of stir up some conversation regarding different investment ideas and business concepts, most likely in an effort to see if one or so unique angles can get mixed in, or if a certain idea or concept can get dismantled, analyzed, improved or so, which could possibly benefit those who may not know those ideas and concepts before, and nothing about Barry going to a public forum to ask for investment advice and business development strategies for real money that he is actually planning to use for the best idea or concept that he can get from this thread, but then again: That's just my interpretation, and perhaps Barry's probably in the best position to clarify his intentions if he feels the need to do so...

There are many places where you can get a decent 2 bedroom condo for 60K such as Thailand, Ecuador or Peru. So, I would buy a condo there where my living expenses are very low make another 10k a month online and live well.

There are many ways to make 10k but the best by far will generally involve list building.

Can't really comment without knowing more about your personal situation. Knowing what someone else would do with the money isn't really going to help you.

The vast majority of people commenting have never had $40k to invest, so pretty pointless asking or listening to them.

It really depends what you are good at. The best return for me is reinvesting back into my business. For you, it might be stocks, it might be real estate, it might be growing your email list or any number of things.

$30,000-$40,000 as capital investment is already quite big here in the Philippines.

Personally, I would invest that in constructing apartments or commercial building for rent.

I would invest on stock markets as well.

    • Hi MagicLouie,

Just want to clarify some things for other Warriors who haven't been here in the Philippines yet, regarding the things you said below, especially since I'm quite updated about recent market prices because I'm on the lookout for another residential / commercial property here in Cubao...

Constructing apartments or a commercial building here in Manila (with $30K to $40K... Hmmm, let's see... Constructing a decent to good two-storey apartment on a 120 sq. ft. of land (just one apartment, not two or more, and I'm just talking about construction costs and not cost of purchased land where the apartment will stand) here in Manila already costs around $60K (around Php1.2M per 80 to 120 sq. ft. floor area x 2)...

Since you'd also want to lease or rent it out at good prices, what can be done is to buy 120 sq. ft. of land in a low land rate, high rent rate area in the country, though definitely not here in Cubao or another bustling city in the heart of Metro Manila where a 120-sq. ft. of land costs $90K and rent rates are just $800 for a decent to good 120-sq. ft. 2-storey apartment in a gated community with 24/7 security and daily community maintenance...

Even if you can get a prime residential / commercial 120-sq. ft. 2-storey townhouse in a gated community with 24/7 security and daily community maintenance here in Cubao (which costs $150K) under a low interest mortgage with your bank, you'd still need to pay 20% as a deposit, so you'd use up $30K just on the 20% downpayment, and you'd need to pay around $1,400 per month for your 80% loan under a 15-year term, which leaves you a $600 per month cost even if you rent it out for $800 per month, and that's excluding property maintenance costs and taxes...

Thanks for this detailed info, Marx.

I am from Iligan, Mindanao so the construction cost is quite lower compared to Metro Manila area.

Hopefully, down the road I can have my own commercial building for rent and for my outsourcing company.

Since this is an Internet forum I will narrow my suggestions to IM only.

Start your own company on any of these services or any profitable one:

    1. Affiliate company like clickbank, amazon, eBay.
    2. Buy off any top income generating site
    3. Start an email marketing service
    4. Web design company
    5. Web hosting and domain registry is highly profitable.

Go into something technical and build brand.

The most important thing is your Internet marketing skills, that's where you will spend a big chunk of your money.

Buying an income making site is the only thing likely to take the entire chunk of your capital. Others can be greatly compressed...

    Hypethetically speaking...

1.) Outsource 90% of my "kick ass" membership website idea

    (*estimated costs to build/outsource = $30k - $35k)

2.) Charge $497.00 per member, and promote the $#!? out of it.

3.) If all were to go according to plan (which it NEVER does) reach initial goal of having 30,000 active (paying) members within 2 years @ $497 per member = $14,910,000.00

Less 70% of all revenues 'paid out' for JV's, Affiliates, Paid Advertising, Software Up-keep, Web Designs, Security, Customer Service, Hosting, Autoresponder, Royalties (*Copywriters, they're expensive ya know...)

Estimated Operating costs *$10,137,000.00 back into the ample hands of the wise.

Hell, even at a 30% net profit... I'd be happy with $4,473,000.00 over 2 years!!! (*Before taxes)

4.) Most likely my wife would leave me, kids would drain me, and I'd end up stranded on a beach with a cheap laptop, a frozen drink, and some medical marijuana to curb my anxiety disorder from having had it all, and then lose everything again, (*a practice I have mastered, and learned well from, lol.)

However, by then I would have a MASSIVE subscriber list... plus, the $5k I saved from the $40k hidden in mason jars under the Earth's surface, and a ton more knowledge...

*Whereby, I'd rinse and repeat... and do it all over again!

      My current position exactly,

      I have 15k in stock
      10k in savings
5k for experimental paid affiliate marketing
5k spending for my thailand trip later this year

I'm a little risky with my money though lol

      ~ Good luck!

Buy two rental properties in Yougstown Oh or put 20 percent down on a home in South Florida and rent it to some one who qualifies for Section 8. Or buy a duplex and rehab it than rent. Let leverage be your friend.

I'd invest it back into my business - a profitable asset that continues to grow/build/expand my wealth.

    More specifically:

    - Hire paid traffic guy and spend around $10K over 4-5 months to test remarketing, FB advertising, and AdWords
    - Hire a CRO / copywriter to improve our funnels, landing pages, sales pages, etc. ($5K and 5 months)
    - Re-design our site to be more inline with where we're going ($8K - $10K all-in over 4-5 months)
    - Re-design our marketplace to fix some of the legacy crap we've left in ($2K - $4K in 2 months)
    - Hire a Marketplace Manager on a trial basis to better connect buyers/sellers, revamp our process, offer white-glove treatment, etc. ($10K over 5 months or so)

We're doing all of the above, currently. :-) Probably doesn't apply to you, though, unfortunately.
