Promoting Non-affiliate product

Hello there,

I am getting familiar with the world of IM, looking for what will work for me and as every newbie, I have million questions. Let's start with this one:

You find a product or service that you want to promote, it is niche that is interesting to you and you think is worth your time and effort. But it is not part of affiliate network nor have it's own affiliate program. How would you approach this? Is there any ready, easy to use solution to set up cookies that would operate between your website and website of producer?
Many thanks for your time

You would likely need to contact them and ask them if they have an affiliate program (even if they don't advertise it, they might have it). Another idea is you could create your own product/service that is similar to that and run with it.

You're right, it's always worth asking...

If there is no affiliate program then why not create your own product?
You could contact the webmaster and see if they are open to the idea, however you would need to show evidence of visitors coming to your site for it to be worthwhile.

I am pretty sure that there are products in your niche that offer an affiliate program. You just have to go to each site and see if they have a link there for you to signup to their affiliate program.

If some of them don't have, seek others. Almost every niche out there as its own affiliate program.

You can also contact the website owner to see if they run an affiliate program. Most of the time, they just don't want to allow their visitors and potential customers see that they have an affiliate program in place.

if they don't have an affiliate program, contact them and ask if they sell license rights to their products. Keep in mind this will be expensive... Few thousand dollars easily.

If you are new, you might just want to stick with things that have an affiliate program already, to avoid getting tossed to the sharks.

I get it, I know I am getting ahead of myself, but I was curious about this way of doing things

    Hey Pali

If you contact the product vendor and they don't already have an affiliate program you can help them set up a free JVZoo account which would manage the whole thing allowing them to manage affiliates without having to do the tracking themselves.

This would get them more sales for only the transaction cost that JVZoo charges and allow aspiring affiliates (like you) to earn from their product sales.

    Good luck

Do I understand it right? JVZoo is tool that will set up cookies and tracking between your site and site of the vendor, if he will be interested?

There are a number of ways to go about this:

    1) Inquire about joint venture

    2) Create your own similar product

    3) Find a similar product that's in the hot niche

    4) Find a different product to promote altogether

    Mate - move on!

If the site or product doesn't have an affiliate program then it's going to take you a heck of a lot lot of trouble to get them to set one up, or to create your own similar product.

If you are looking for affiliate products for your niche then if they don't have an affiliate program then not in the game. Come back next year and check again.

Just move on and find a similar product with a good affiliate program.

While we're at it, does the product have a recurring element? You learn tons more. As with affiliate product with a recurring site to it.

And how long does the cookie last? Too many affiliate programs only have a 30 day cookie or a 60 day cookie. What use is that? Yes, you can make money: but the vendor or isn't thinking of the affiliate's. Why not have a lifetime cookie?

So there are many questions you need to ask when deciding which affiliate products to promote. But in general, if a product does not have an affiliate program, move on. You'll find another product which already has one in place.

      Hi Malc,

by now it became clear to me that trying to be affiliate for product that doesn't support affiliates is not worth the hassle and it is a dumb idea.

My original idea behind this question was this. Place I am from, Tatras region in Slovakia has a big potential for tourism. There is lot of private places that offer accommodation. My idea was website that would select top places and thing to do and offer accommodation and take my share from owners of pensions. By now I see that it might be entirely different game and not affiliate marketing thing.

By all means, thank you for your words.

Hey sorry to be off topic but not sure where I should be asking this. So if you know please let me know. I am new to this and added a banner from peerfly yesterday to my website. I noticed today that it says allowed countries:united states. I am from Canada so does that mean if someone is clicking on the banner on my site and buys the product I do not actually get paid? If so is there a way around this?

Maybe setting up a travel website and monetising it with hotel lets, car hire and air travel?

        Just a thought.
