Copyright-Free Pics For a Sales letter Avatar?

I am starting a new project, and don't want to use my own picture as I look too young for the niche (20 but look like I'm 18).

I am looking for a picture to use as the avatar for my sales page, but I am not sure where to look because I am a little worried about copyright issues.

I am looking for a man in his late 20's/early 30's who is well groomed and such.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Is it that important to have a picture of the author on the sales page?

I think it builds trust, yes.

Try hiring a model or a friend. Draw up a contract (just google search and base it on someone elses). You could hire from Craigslist.

This will avoid any legal issues.

Go to istockphotos thats what they do. Cheap pictures with no copyright problems.
I've used them before from both sided, as a designer and as a photographer and always found them very reliable and good value

I write articles and eBooks - PM me for details!

One problem with using a photo from a stock photo site as your avatar is that, sooner or later, someone may discover it or people may see "you" in different places, including sites where "you" might be competing against yourself.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

That's very true. I run across duplicate stock photos all the time online. Going the Craigslist route might be best.

on Flickr you can find royaltee free pics, but remeber what said above.. finding sites where you're competing against yourself may be funny, but will destroy your credibiliy.

You could try SXC.HU or MorgueFile while you still run the risk of your image competing against yourself the chances should at least be less.
