What is the best way to get affiliates to promote your products

I haven't really made use of affiliate programs before. But how successful are they, and which one is the best. I had a look at www.clickbank.com but then I also saw negative comments about them in this forum. I also looked at others, such as www.offerforge.com and so on, but some seem complicated.

Where do you for instance get the most active affiliates, or is it best to personally approach an affiliate and sell yourself and products to him to assist you to market it.

I am really interested in the results. What kind of response can one receive? (I think each niche will be different too, but I would like to know in general). My niche is in the website building and hosting niche, but please do not limit your responses to that niche, as I would like to get a birds eye over affiliate programs and your experiences regardless of the niche.

Thank you for your response. Do I need to proof this to the affiliates, or how do I let them know of this. Also what is a good conversion? 10%, 20%, 30% or am I missing the boat somewhere? Thanks again.

Hi guys, Alexa is right, that's probably the most important part, because affiliates have only one desire: to make as much money possible from promoting your product.

But they are also interested in making as much money possible but with as little effort on their side as possible.

So to get affiliates to promote to you, you actually need to do 80% of their work! That's a bit of a paradox here, but it's more true than anything.

You need to give them lots of promotional tools like prewritten email copy, review copy, blog posts, keyword lists, website templates, the list goes on. The better your affiliate center the better they'll perform, the more money they'll make the more happy they will be - the more money you'll make.

As far as getting good affiliates on board you have to "sell" them your affiliate program. You need to approach them as you would approach your prospects or your customers.

I'd advise you to build a separate website only for recruiting affiliates where you have a sales page selling your affiliate program. And the desired action you want them to take is to sign up for your affiliate program by getting their email address. Then they have access to your promotional area where they get all the tools they need. You could even have a section where you give them educational material to teach them to become better affiliates.

And then you constantly communicate with them and build relationship with them.

If you want proof for this, sugn up for Travis' product "Making Up" affiliate program. This guy really knows how to manage his affiliates and to get them to promote his product successfully. His product is one of the best performing on CB marketplace. I wonder why?

It's a lot of work, but I think that investing in your affiliates has the highest elasticity to your own bottom line.

Hope this gave you lots of ideas you could use in your own business, take care.

Davor, Thanks for the tips, it sounds good. I like the idea of having a seperate website/portal for affiliates. It seems I am a bit late for his offer as it is closed... Unless if you have a different link to it.

This is how I get affiliates.

I can't tell you the "plan" for fear of police involvement.

I can tell you the tools you will need which should enlighten you to what you will need to do.

        You will need.

        Ducktape
        Handcuffs
        Vaseline
        4 Goldfish
        2 oreo cookies
1 gallon of milk (great with oreo cookies)
        5 sticks of chapstick

Now you will have all the affiliates you can wish for. Not only that, but they will be most motivated to make you sales.

Paul Myers has a pretty big list doesn't he? I may need to see if I can get him as an affiliate. Oh Paul...

Thomas, I understand your technique thoroughly and have used it with great success. I must disagree on the chapstick however. I, myself, have found that Mentos mints work 2-3 times better than the chapstick. You might want to do some split testing
