Amazon UK review site - How to utilize foreign visitors?

Hi everyone,

I have an amazon product review website which is for Amazon UK, meaning I will only get commissions from people within the UK.

Currently I am getting quite a lot of organic traffic from France and the USA. Is there any way I can somehow target these visitors separately?

should I setup a new site for each of these countries and have a banner at the top of the site leading to the new site for people who do not live in the UK?

Can I even be part of the Amazon Associate USA and french programmes considering I am a UK resident?

Any advice would be good.

thanks

Use an Amazon geo locator plugin.

You need to register as an affiliate for each different Amazon program you want to use i.e. amazon.com, amazon.ca, amazon.fr.

Then the plugin will show affiliate links for the related Amazon program based on the visitors URL.

So UK visitors will see amazon.co.uk links, American visitors will get amazon.com links and visitors from France ... amazon.fr.

Note that the programs have different ToS and payment plans so read up on each one that you join.

PS Yes you can sign up to any Amazon program from another country. Unless your country or state does not support it. UK, Canada and most US states are fine.

Great info. Would that plugin also work with the Associate goliath amazon plugin? I use it to generate all my posts with affiliate links in the images etc. Surely it can't change a link which is embedded in an image right?

I'm not familiar with that plugin but from the sales page it looks like the kind that could easily add geo targeting.

You could try asking the developer if he is considering adding it as a feature.

Chris Guthrie has an Azon plugin that does geo targeting but it has the same type product set-up with the ASIN id. So it probably isn't compatible with Associate Goliath.

There are few plugins so look around and see.

I've been looking for a solution to this for ages. A lot of these plugins probably wouldn't work with my site because I link using the ASIN a lot. I'm loosing earning on 60% of my traffic. I'm at the point where I might stick some adsense on and see what happens. Would love to know if you find something that works for you.
