Problem Buying a Domain

Recently I've decided that I'm going finally purchase a domain, more for personal use and not internet marketing. So of course, this is the first domain I've ever attempted to buy, and it's from GoDaddy.

I know the domain name I want, it's available, and I want to pay through paypal. I definitely have enough funds on my account, but they're asking me to add a credit card to my account in order to proceed with the checkout.

The problem with this is that I'm 18, and do not own a credit card. Is there an alternate method of purchasing a domain (with paypal) so it does not require me to enter a credit card? Thanks for all help in advance.

  • hmm I never tried paying with paypal but some registrars must take it.

Do a search for "registrar paypal"
  • Apply for the pay pay debt card problem solved. If not you have a bank account otherwise you would not have a paypal account. Yo can also get a debt card from your bank and use that as the credit card to process the transaction.
  • Find another domain registrar. There are plenty out there that will accept PayPal. I have purchased domains from GoDaddy in bulk and that is only because of the deal. If you seek out those burned by GoDaddy, you won't have to search long. LOL!

  • Also the only reason why it is asking for a credit card is because they use that for age verification. Think about say you found the best free porn site you have ever found. It will still ask for a credit card for age verification. Same goes for websites. If you read the disclaimer it says you have to be 18 to buy a domain. You can run the website at any age but you have to be 18 to buy the domain. Also do not host with godaddy. Crappy crappy crappy I recommend Web Hosting by DreamHost Web Hosting: Web Sites, Domain Registration, WordPress, Ruby on Rails, all on Debian Linux! if you use promo code hubpages you will get some thing like 40 off for 1 year of service. I am not positive but It may also have free domain name included.
  • I use paypal on namecheap
  • I use paypal at godaddy and I didn't meet any request to add credit card. Maybe you choose the wrong menu.
  • You know, coi hit on something. I used PayPal at GoDaddy too and don't recall any questions about adding a credit card. Hmm?
