Software developement - will they steal my idea?

I want to have a product created - a piece of software that will basically log into many similar sites and create an account as well as post ads for you, etc...

I don't currently have a relationship with any developers that I know could build this for me.

My concern is, how do you find a developer you can trust - without sharing the details of your idea?

I don't want to just put an ad up on oDesk or Freelancer sharing all the details.

I'd still say use odesk and just be broad in your request for work, tell them the requirements but don't get to specifics until they are hired on. From my experience on there, the programmers there just want to program (or at least the ones I've worked with)

This was something that had me hesitating for a while...

If you're going to use an overseas freelancer via odesk, elance, etc, then don't worry about it.

It's more beneficial for them to just do the work and get paid by you then to steal your idea and invest their own time and money into marketing/selling it.

I've made a bunch of apps via outsourcing and each time used a different developer. Our $$$ is worth so much more there that they'll be happy with just payment.

      Good luck!

According to US Patent law, you can't patent IDEAS. You can only patent IMPLEMENTATIONS. Know the difference. Anyone can have an idea. It is only those who can IMPLEMENT such ideas in an economically VIABLE way who will walk away with the pot of gold. Everyone else is just dreaming.
