Solo Ads and Sales Funnels

Am in the process of setting up the usual squeeze page sales funnel which will then be promoted mainly through solos ads (other bits to promote it in there too of course).

Now I've trawled the internet looking for high quality solo ads and my initial findings suggest that a huge percentage of solo ads target the biz opp, get rich quick, earn $10,000 this month type of stuff...

This is NOT what I'm after! I have written a 50 paged 'blueprint' that covers how to start your online business. It goes from choosing a niche, setting up the squeeze page, the funnel, how they work, getting traffic and so on...

So are there a substantial level of solos out there to lists of proper internet marketers and/or people looking to get into online marketing seriously.

Now I know I'm new to the WF and have joined with the sole intention of asking for advice and ultimately providing advice in areas I have extensive knowledge. After years of success in a range of niches, I'm attempting to break into the IM niche sharing what I know through a range of both paid and free products.

(Sorry for waffling!)

So here's the plan:

Squeeze Page gives them access to a free blueprint which goes through the notions of starting an online business (building a list and marketing to them).

After signing up, they are taken to a thank you page which contains an extract from my upsell (a guide on traffic generation) plus the option to buy the full guide priced at $17.

Then after confirming their email address I will give them a gentle reminder of the $17 guide.

And a final reminder in the welcome email for that $17 guide will also be given.

Is this OTT? Is $17 a good price point? Should I have more upsells and downsells going on?

My plan is to break-even (I'd even settle for a small loss) on the solos with a view to selling to these subscribers in the long run (lots of freebies in there too) as I see this being a huge long term project.

Thanks in advance for any advice/criticism of my funnel/tips/and so on

My lists swallow the types of offers you claim to have created whole.

If you can't find quality solo ad providers you're not looking hard enough my man.

You are simply going to have to test a lot of traffic. And if you break even on a solo before you begin your email marketing consider yourself very fortunate. Even the most targeted traffic won't get you to break even before the email marketing comes into play.

As for your funnel - it's standard, and sounds great, and if your report and offers are strong you will make sales. It's as stupidly simple as that.

Test your funnel and tweak it - don't offer the report for free right off the bat on some occasions, try a sideways sales letter on other occasions, just test it and tweak it. Your split test results will tell you whether you are on the right track or you need further refining.

Don't worry about sexy graphics sometimes, jazz it up big time on others.

    Test test test.

What I don't want are those looking to get rich quick. I'm looking for people who are willing to put in the hours to start their own online business.

You will always have those get-rich-quick people as well as people that really want to put in the effort.

Here on the forum I would say the percentage is 20% that really want to put in the effort and 80% that are basically looking for entertainment. With entertainment I mean they dream about getting rich by the end of next week and the acceptable effort is to click the buy button. LOL

Remember, the get rich quick people buy stuff too. And don't discount the value you provide to them in the form of infotainment.

Some of those people might browse for years before they actually get the idea. The success stories of people who played around the edges for years are quite common.

I would caution against screening too hard at the front end. Get them on a list and then screen them.

Cheers Brendon. A HUGE part of it all will be the testing of course but that's the sort of thing I'll be bringing forward from my other ventures. It's just the MMO niche and whether or not that sort of funnel works.

A lot of what I've seen include exit offers that you can't escape from, upsell after downsell after upsell (desperate selling from my point of view).

So thanks for letting me know the funnel works (obviously will need to test that first).

There could be good reasoning behind the exit pop ups - especially if the offers differ greatly from the original one.

But yes - TONS of them are a bit annoying.

Yeah I mean when you have to click "Leave this Page" 10 times to get off the website. Just screams desperation for me... But they're used for a reason like you said.

    Hi,

    Don't try to please everyone.

Just go with the offer you've got.

It will be very difficult for you to be able to find the perfect solo ad sellers
without getting your feet wet first.

Of course you'll need to make sure that you have a solid BACK END
funnel set up so that you can maximize your chances of breaking even
    or making a profit too.

    Build your list first.

Once they're on your list you can market and build relationships with them
    over time.

Once people get to know you it's ten times easier to market to them anyway.

the "get rich quick" solo ads will opt in and buy your offer. your funnel got to convert. but you will not make your money back from the majority of your solo ads. you need to be adswapping every other day. wont see a profit till a few months

Some solo ad vendors are good and some are not. You just have to track everything to see which one work well for you and which ones don't.

If you have the money to spend, I would go with pay per click marketing with either Google or Yahoo/Bing. PPC gets you far better results then solo ads in my view.

With solo ads, most of the people that you will get on your list are probably on a lot of other lists too.

In PPC, there is a good chance that they are just starting out their search and they are probably not on anyone's list yet.

Yeah I will certainly be testing the traffic sources (as I do in other niches). I've seen a lot of chat about solo ads and that's why I asked. Thanks though and I'll certainly consider using Adwords.

$17 is a great pricing point for a front-end product.

If you are looking to AT LEAST break even...

And have your sales funnel be a long term project...

It is imperative that you have at least 1 upsell, too.

    I would say 90-10.

    Non-annoying ones stand out...hint?

What I don't want are those looking to get rich quick.
Why not? Most successful marketers were probably in this position at some point. Some of them will accept reality at some point. Of course some never will.

It is imperative that you have at least 1 upsell, too.
Depends on your marketing strategy. I find a single OTO keeps more people subscribed over time.
