new GoDaddy extensions.. What do you think?!

So, I have been waiting for the first releases because there was some interesting domains I wanted to buy..

I did manage to snag some pretty good ones but I couldn't believe how many are already taken!! Whats your take on these new extensions, possible flip them, use them, hold on to them..

Also, I bought a .clothing extension and for some reason the one I bought was double the price of all the other .clothing domains I looked into? I was like wtf anyone know why it would be double the price?

I wouldn't jump the gTLD's train so soon. Lets first see how it plays out. Its a government conspiracy

.info is in the same league as the very best of the new extensions, yet .info has failed to gain acceptance in the 10+ years it has been available. That's an ominous fact that people need to keep in mind.

I see value if you can do something like del.icio.us, but otherwise I'll stick with the classics.

All nonsense and a way for registrars to make more money.

On the note of del.icio.us (domain hacking). That's also nonsense in my opinion. Delicious actually reverted to using their .com domain.

By the time they had 6 or 7 figures to spend on a domain, it didn't matter much what they called it.

I think i'ma stay in my niche. Domain names dont make me rich - good marketing does.

For the New TLDs, the prices are significantly higher when the Domain Registrar believes the Domain Name in question may be valuable.

I think that's a slightly naive comment. The reason that Delicious changed to a 'normal' domain is not just down to their budget but also down to the fact that Delicious.com is far easier to type than Del.icio.us

A lot of people point to this, but they leave out one very significant issue: .info domains were so cheap they became the favorite throwaway/redirect gTLD of spammers. For a while, just having a .info in an email added noticeably to the spam score that message got from some systems.

The lower the cost something is online, the more likely it is to be abused.
