Promoting my product via Clickbank affiliates

Good morning everybody,

I'm making an effort to introduce a few of my products to the Clickbank community, specifically a marketing workbook for attorneys. I have the gut feeling that just having a listing in the Clickbank marketplace is equal to listing my book on Amazon - it'll simply be lost in the pile of worthless reports and other digital products.

So my question is, are there any 'best practices' for attracting the attention of high quality Clickbank affiliates that you can share?

What is the minimal amount of promotional material expected or needed to get these new affiliates started on the promotional campaign?

This inquiring mind needs to know....

    Talltom,

I am no expert in this but what if, after you place your product on clickbank for affiliates to promote, have an affiliate sign up option on your thank you page or which ever page you will let your customers download your product.

I know that it may sound weird to do this but this is how many vendors in Clickbank recruit affiliates. Nothing wrong with that.

I like talfighel's suggestion. The easiest affiliates to recruit are your buyers.

Look for blogs that are in your niche and write to the owners, telling them about your product and how they can make money off it. Give them a review copy or something, and in return they post about it on the blog.

Since you specified "High Quality" affiliates, I would recommend staying away from an opt-in on your thank you page if you aren't in the IM market.

There are 2 ways I can think of to find a high quality affiliate, the first is to find websites related to your product and sign up for their mailing list. You can then judge how good they are at selling based on the content they send you. This one will take a little time to get a good judge of their quality.

The other way is to simply go through the clickbank marketplace and find products related to yours. If you're really picky about your affiliates, sign up to their lists too so you can judge them.

To convince them you're worthy of promoting you need to have a high quality sales page that converts. You also need to have a great product that isn't overpriced, remember they want the best things for their visitors.

You first need to submit your product for clickbank approval once you have your Pitch Page set up. You can visit clickbank marketplace to see how affiliate page are being setup. For you to attract high quality affiliate, you will need a proof that your product success rate is super high and its refund rate is low. Quality affiliate will want to know how your pitch page is converting with proof. That means you shall have EPC to show for that.

Once, you have that available, your clickbank vendor manager can help you connect with top and elite affiliate for site promotion. You may as well need to use clickbank affiliate promotion to get affiliate to know about your product as well.

I like the idea of contacting the Clickbank vendor manager; guess I didn't realize they had any. Any ideas how I'd actually make a connection with one? I was flipping through their website and didn't see any mention of a vendor manager.

That is fairly specialized. That means it is not that easy to attract affiliates.

Here is what you can do

    1. contact Clickbank ad Sales (the guys name that I worked with is Taylor)
and place a paid ad in the categories that are related to your offer.

This is not cheap (from a few hundred to a few thousand per month) but you
will get a lot of affiliates that take a look at your product and a percentage will give it a shot and test and if your offer converts you are in business.

    2. You can find Facebook groups where affiliates hang out and get in contact or place FB ads in those groups.

    3. You can hire an affiliate manager. This is not cheap but probably the best investment you can make. It is a lot of work recruiting affiliates.

Keep in mind that you only have to recruit an affiliate 1 time. If that person is happy with you and your product they will stick with you and promote that product and everything else you put out later.

Yes, your gut feeling is correct.

Best practice: Hire an affiliate manager.

    You would need at least
    1. a couple sets of banners (all standard sizes)
    2. swipe files

The swipe files are actually the most important piece. Your best affiliates are the ones with a mailing list and those guys are lazy!

So you better offer (tested!) swipe files. At least 2 different versions (short and long) and at least 5 different angles.

When you recruit the affiliates make sure to get their contact information including phone number, FB account and Skype. The ones that won't give you all the contact deals: do not accept them as affiliate (the only people entering a bank with a mask are the ones trying to rob the bank - you are the bank in thi case as you are sitting on the dough )

Here is another post that might help to find super affiliates:
