This is so strange

Guys,

I put in alot of effort and cleaned up my site. Made it look nicer and cleaner but now my conversion has dropped and I can't figure out why.

I think I am too attached to the site and probably can't see what's going on. Can someone give me your first impression of my site or tell me something obvious that's hurting me and I did not see it before?

I hate taking your people's time here but I don't see any other resource for guidance

My site www.socialskillsinstitute.com, would be nice if one of you could point me something.

    I came soooo close to using that template on a site. I love it!

    Did you have the tabs at the top on your previous site? (I don't know what the previous site looked like.)

    The reason I ask is because that's the first thing that caught my eye and attention. The headline doesn't stand up and smack me around at all visually. If I weren't looking at the sales copy on purpose, I probably would have started clicking tabs first.

        Thanks for taking the time to look at my site. Yeah I loved that template

        Yeah I did have the tabs on my previous site as well. The only thing I have changed now is stuff like fonts, more space, and images.

        The Headline...I have been thinking of that as well.

        I do see what you're saying my headline should grab the viewers and not my tabs.

        No I did not think was needed becase the traffic flow is still the same and as I mentioned I did not replace the text or anything but I guess I should just to be sure.

      Yup, I actually have started playing with the tabs and menus with cool effects immediately. I can definitely see how that can and does distract attention.

    Tinstar hit it right on the head. When I looked at your site, my eyes immediately focused on the tab area. BTW, I visited your site before reading any of the replies here to make sure I wasn't influenced by others' observations. Try decreasing the tab size and increasing the headline's font size. In fact, decrease the entire header area (header, not headline) to bring your headline further up the page and into your visitors' area of focus. You could also try narrowing the page width just slightly -- less side-to-side eye movement means less eye strain, which means that people will be more inclined to read your pitch.

    Im use to using MINI sites, if your focus is to get people to sign up for your list use a mini site and split test. Looks isnt everything. Its all about basic function.

    Make it easy for people to get what you want to give them. When i visit your site I dont know what to do? Theres to many options

      The headline to me is wrong. It's an unemotional headline for an emotional topic. "beautiful and healthy" is what you look for when buying a puppy.

      Some niches do better with simple text and designs and don't respond well to being "prettied" up.

    Hey Magic,

    For on page SEO, you might consider not to have to
    many keywords and phrases in your pages title tags.

    The title tags throughout the site seem over stuffed
    with way to many keywords.

    The same keywords seem to appear on all the pages
    on the website. You should customize each page with
    targeted keywords that each page focuses on.

    Having to many keywords and all the same keywords
    on each page can hurt your search engine rankings.

    Just a few things I noticed that can help you.

      I would get rid of the offer box at the foot of the page.

      It's confusing.

      You've got people reading to the bottom of the page and are about to click your link when....."hello!...what have we got here?"

      And that's a problem. I have no clue!

      Is it related to the website? Maybe? Maybe not...

      You've lost 'em!

      Don't confuse your visitor.

      They're there for one reason and one reason only. Don't give them an option to click away through being confused.

    Hey ok here are some things that might be causing issues.

    1. It took about 5 sec for the site to even load up waited on loading time not sure if anyone else had this issue but if people click to visit your site and it takes more then 3 seconds to start loading something they can see they click the back button. People are very impatient anymore lol

    2. You have iframes on your page which some times cause issues with various amounts of things I tend to steer away from them and never use them.

    3. Your menu is javascript some people will have javascript turned off or even spyware and virus scans will block it from showing up

      Thanks man yeah it seems to be the general distraction for everyone. I will work on it.

      I know what you are saying but I did some researched and realized that to have credibility to charge $1500 and so for my live training I should have a full website as oppose to mini site. I do agree though with having narrow text area so people do not have to run their eyes from let to right. I also agree I am giving too many choices to viewers rather than funelling them to sales.Thanks man I will try to match the mini site traits as much as I can.

      Yeah I was trying to diffrenciate myself I guess because I teach healthy and ethical ways to attract women and guess got carried away Thanks I will fix the headline.

      Thanks Sean I had no idea it was taking this long to load and had no idea that iframes can cause problem. I will investigate.

    Magic, This is your subhead:

    "....These rules are counterintuitive to most men! Incorporate these rules in your interactions and see how you start attracting women in your life irrespective of your race, class, ethnicity or looks."

    Who are you writing to? This sounds like it was taken from a college textbook or something. Far too formal and unemotional. Much of the rest of the page reads the same way.

    I'd recommend rewriting much of it in an more emotional style.... and write to a 7th grade reading level. ....don't use any words like "COUNTERINTUITIVE" . Hope that helps.

    For me the site took far too long to load - more than a minute and I'm on a fast connection.
    Also, it renders completely differently in IE 6 and Firefox 2

    Here's my view -

    - Put the main headline in bigger, redder letters.
    - Right at the bottom of the page you have sales buttons for a 3 day training at $900.

    Phew!

    I *presume* it's a 3 day course on seducing women - I have to presume as you don't actually say what the course is about.

    I would go for a reduced opt in squeeze page - for a $900 product, you'd probably better giving the info you give on the page via responser messages, including a presell for the 3 day course in each one.

    That's my view anyhoo!
