How Do You Stop Your Product Download Links From Google Index

Hello Guys,

I did a search on Google and stumble upon a product download link that is not yet launch to marketplace.

To me, it was not ethical to access the product let alone sharing it with someone else. I want to help the product vendor because I believe in the fact that what you make happen to someone, shall be make happen to you.

Please can anyone explain how you can discourage Google from indexing a product download link on Amazon S3 cloud storage or how to configure it on amazon aws console management to avoid such occurrences.

    I use JV Zoo for single items and for a shopping cart I use woocommerce :-)

    Seems to keep most things secure...

    You will never stop people sharing though

    You need to 'noindex' pages that you do not want Google to rank in the SERPS.

    Now that they are indexed, use Google Webmaster tools to de-index them.

    If using Wordpress, install All-In-One-SEO then on the pages you don't want index, scroll to All-In-One-SEO settings for that page and select no index for everything. Simple.

      Put an index.html page with no content in the same folder. The spider should see the blank "home page", find no links to follow, and never see the other items in the same folder.

        Curious how that compares to putting 'noindex' into the source code.

        Serves same purpose? Better? Worse?

          Putting noindex into the source code will stop Google but if I the interested downloader see the folder I can go look at whats in it. If there's a blank index.html file in there I wont see the contents.

          If I see something I'm interested in online I always do a Google search to see if there are any offer pages set up to get me a cheaper price - often this search brings up the download folder... not good practise but if you always put that index.html in every folder you will never have a problem.

          Google also wont index pages that are redirects so if you make that index.html an autoredirect to the home page it wont get listed.

          BTW if you want to use Google to list all pages of a website that it has in its cache type the following into googles search bar...

          site:whateversiteyouwanttosearch.com

    I've had a couple of private pages up for years with a simple 'no index' meta tag.

    <meta name="robots" content="noindex,nofollow,noarchive"/>

    No one gets to them unless I send them the url and an invitation.
