I Just Made a Video Using Windows Movie Maker -

I just made a movie using "Window's Movie Maker" and it forces me to save the file as a .wmv ..... when I try to put this file on my webpage - I get it to work but it takes a while to buffer.

I want this movie to play right when the webpage loads (no buffering).

Does anyone have any suggestions.

    Depending on the speed of your internet conenction, the movie always buffers.

      Yes, go to http://www.on2.com/index.php?387 and download the flix standard for $39 and run your video through there with an audio/video combined bit rate somewhere in between 190-260 kbps depending on the height/width dimensions (the size can also affect distortion) if you want it to play on anything with a 256 cable connection or above (However, I do somewhere between 230-265 kbps for MOTION GRAPHIC screen capture as well so it may glitche or buffer on slowe 256 connections).

      Example: video bit rate 240 kbps
      audio bit rate 32 kbps mono 22.1 sample rate

      The wmv file default (can be) something like 1500 kbps just the video alone(!!) and the audio default is like 128kbps stereo, so that adds ANOTHER 256 kbps so if the users' connection is like a 512 kbps cable connection, it's like putting an ORANGE (1756 kbps) down someone's THROAT (512 kbps) without chopping it up FIRST (using a default wmv file).

      So you would want to CHOP (encode) up your ORANGE (your video) first by doing what was mentioned in the first paragraph so the end user can EAT it (watch your video without it buffering).

        Congratulations on the video !

        If you want to spend a little cash then you can get camstudiopro , about $30 which includes video web wizard which can convert the file to avi and some other fancy stuff.

        There probably are other products available but these serve me well.

    Yep. Don't make business videos with windows movie maker

    But in all seriousness... Windows movie maker though a great little free editor renders video in windows media formats. That alone has its downfalls.

    I recommend creating videos using Sony Vegas Movie Studio instead, saving as an avi and then encoding to flv using Flix 8 Standard from on2.com for best quality results.

    If you want to learn how to use Sony Vegas Just go to youtube and type in "Sony Vegas Tutorial."

    This is not completely correct. Its the bit rate of the video in relation to the speed of your connection that effects whether a video buffers or not...

    For example a 300kbps video being played over a 500kbps connection would not buffer but a 200kbps video playing over a 128kbps connection would.

    Another alternative if you just must use Windows Movie Maker is to output your files in HQ high bit rate and then encode them to flash flv video using Flix 8 Standard from On.com.

    The quality will not be as good as if you had produced a master HQ avi first but at least you would them be able to embed a flash video in your site instead of the dreadful windows media player embed.

    I decided to just use the youtube option for now for advertising purposes but thank you all. I do most of my advertising with articles and blogs and I am fairly new to video.

      One thing I've done in the past is to upload my video to youtube and then download the converted .flv file back from youtube. Then use dreamweaver to embed the .flv onto my page.
      It loads very quickly this way, is compatable with most browsers and is a great option for easily hosting it yourself if thats something that is important to you.
