Writing Epic Review Posts For Autoresponder Services

Hi Warriors,

I'm going to be writing some epic articles (3000-5000 words) for various different e-mail auto responder services over the next few months.

Most likely I'll review various popular services one by one and then create a few epic comparison type posts.

I'd like to know what types of information and content would you guys find most useful for these types of articles?

I'm currently working on creating a general outline where I'll cover as much as possible about each service, it's features, downfalls etc. and may even include a video walk through of each.

Anything you guys see 'lacking' in terms of covering this topic when you search online will be what I'd like to go after.

One big thing for these is their customer service. Their stats, features, services and prices are described on their sales pages.

Based on questions and discussion in the forum the true value of a company shows when people run into problems with the service provider.

How easy are they to reach for questions and support?
How quickly do they respond to a problem ticket, email or phone call?
Do they have a phone number? (many do not or make it difficult to find)

Another thing for Autoresponders is things that may not be explicily stated or obvious but become apparent after using them:

How 'Internet Marketing" friendly are they? i.e. MailChimp apparently does not allow affiliate links.

How easily can you import/export a list if you want to join/leave? Aweber can be tricky with this.

Do they have a good affiliate program?

Do they actually pay out on their affiliate program?

Thanks, I will definitely cover all of this.

If I were reading these reviews, I'd want to know how dependable the company is, such as do their emails always get through? That's where you would want to actually try out the service with some of your sample email accounts, so you know before hand which of your emails are going through. If your own emails are not going through, then other people trying out the service as a result of your recommendation might have the same issues. And, that will cast doubt on your credibility.

You might want to cover ease of use, too. I've tried several of them over the years, and some are clunky to use (Aweber), but have excellent customer service and other positive features (also Aweber). Some will let you manually import a list of emails without forcing them to re-confirm (Constant Contact), but make it hard to use their opt-in form on your own site (also Constant Contact).

I think if I read a post that covered this kind of "inside baseball" detail, I'd be very impressed.

But aside from that, I want to applaud you for actually creating high quality content. It takes time to do what you're setting out to do, and I commend you for wanting to give your readers really useful content. Too many IM'ers go for the easy path and end up with useless stuff on their blogs.

Interesting. I'm wondering why you feel you need to write such long reviews. Most often I'd agree that more content is better than less. However, reviews would be an exception. I know I wouldn't want to wade through a 5000 word review. I'd want the important features and benefits in the shortest, most concise presentation possible. So again, why write epic reviews?

To elaborate, I had someone reach out to me who I previously interviewed last year. They found a high authority domain relating to mail they would like to build up to be the absolute best resource for information on e-mail autoresponders.

When I looked around Google and read some reviews I found that some posts have a lot of good info but some articles are seriously lacking. I'm going to be writing for his site and taking credit for each article, I'm also being compensated so that's enough reason for me

Regardless I think when you say read through page 1 of Google's articles for "Aweber Review" some of them are seriously lacking. Considering how many people use these services, it's a shock to me I couldn't find anything similar to what I'm planning to create.

Gotcha. Sounds like you're all over it. Good luck to you.

The only reason some of the reviews you are finding online are so flimsy is because they are affiliate reviews, which are aimed at making sales, rather than helping or informing the end u ser.

Sounds like a really good idea. But, considering the nature of the internet. I'd really be surprised if someone doesn't take inspiration from (or just plain copy) your idea about putting up overly indepth reviews of popular autoresponder services. Best of luck with the project anyway.

I agree with less is more in this circumstance... reviews should generally be concise. That's the whole reason people want to read reviews and not go through the time of doing all the research themselves. When I want to see a movie in theaters I don't read someone's long review... I simply just look for the "Must Go" icon and make my judgement off that little picture... and who's casted in it.

However, it's surely worth giving a shot. There's only one way to find out. Go for it!
