No way I would do it.

I'd never do a tandem - the idea of falling through the sky without having control over my lifesaving device scares the crap out of me.

It's a blast to jump out of planes though, I just prefer not being strapped to someone else.

Hummusx, you did a solo jump the first time? Wouldn't being attached to an experienced jumper make you feel safer?

Not really. Tandems are primarily targeted at 'tourist' jumpers. I knew before I started that I wanted to give it a go as a hobby, so I started (with my wife) on the solo track. It was terrifying, but oh so amazing. We both really enjoy it and have made hundreds of jumps.

I have friends that are instructors who've asked me to take a ride as a tandem passenger and I've had to turn them down. At this point I can't imagine getting out of the plane without my hands on the controls.

I agree, I used to be a Free Fall instructor and went on a certification jump for a friend who was getting his tandem rating. I never felt so naked being in the jump plane without my own gear on.

I had no idea about that. I just showed up and went. I didn't really want to be strapped to some dude. Believe me I asked but they said they require 6 hours of instruction first, and i didn't plan on spending all day training. I'll know for next time because I caught the bug.

That was pretty sweet dude! I've always wanted to try skydiving.

I think it would be a blast.

                  Great Vid!!

I thought they forced first-timers to go tandem on thier first jump. I've been told you don't have the choice. Is that wrong?

But somehow, you still felt the need to bitch someone else about doing it.

      Way to go

I for sure will be capturing my first shark dive on video

        Hi Jason,

When I did my Parachute Jump, for charity I might add, it was a long time ago and I don't think video had even been invented then, it was more like black and white cine

For the doubters, yes I did really do it. 2,500 feet above the earth is an awesome sight. Comming back to earth is a harsh reality.
On a side note, if you think it will cure your fear of heights, You are DEAD WRONG !

Anyway, the point I want to put accross is this, it doesn't matter how you get there, strapped on to someonelse or of your own free will, as long as you get there honestly, be it a parachute jump or internet marketing.

The only thing that "JUMPED OUT" at me in this post was, why is Jason posting about Matt doing a "dive" -

I could never jump out of a plane. I have a fear of heights. The high dive at the local swimming pool kind of scares me!

              Naw Chris!

You don't need BALLS! you just need a parachute or a Buddy Strap ON.
              Oh and the URGE!

Mikes jump is awesome...... Jason is working on getting a link to his 30k jump, I watched it in awe! my 2,500 was punny :p

              There is a lesson here....
Watching and learning, hope others are too.

Someone ought to skydive with a laptop in their hands and try to make a sale at the same time. Now that would be a killer IM skydiving video. ...And it could go in Guinness.

Looks like fun. The most surprising thing about that video for me was to see Matt's personality. He seems very shy and almost timid. Hardly the personality I would have expected from someone I had perceived as a hard charging marketer.

By all means, let's see Mike Filsaime sky dive!

I have a school video of me as a teenager riding in a shopping cart down a hill, but that might not be hard core enough for this thread.

And I might seem like I'm showing off my skills too.
