Create a niche website-collector Pinterest style

Hello everybody,

I'd like to have your opinion about an idea I had.

My idea is to create a website that list all the websites of the web related to a specific niche. A sort of web-directory, enhanced with:

- interface Pinterest-like: an infinite scrolling with an image preview and maybe a description of the website

- website are manually approved, and only worthy websites will be listed

- search functionality: there will be a search bar in which the user can insert a query. The search engine has specific features that can expand the query the user inserted: for example, niche: woodcarving, if the user inserts "wood" the custom search engine will look also for "basswood", "cedar", and so on. (I'm a computer engineer experienced in semantic, so it's bread and butter for me)

the website aims to became an authority

      Nice Concept ,
      Give it a try but don't go with Pinterest ,try some new design concept.

      Niche Specific - No you should be open to all (You can put some criteria)

      Manual Approval - Why you want to do that ,let the people vote / report for their favorite websites.Most negative voted sites will deleted automatically

      I am giving so much usable info for free,i need cup of coffee for it

        good point! it could be a mechanism reddit-like, in which users can upvote or downvote a submission, the more the website is upvoted, the more ranks well

    I agree with AffiliateWaves. Crowd sourcing and community building as Pinterest does would give you better content with less work than manual approvals. Give them the opportunity and your visitors will sell your site for you.
