Inserting Ad Images Into Wordpress 2014

Hey all. I'm making my plunge back into Affiliate Marketing (going to stick with one site this time) but have no idea how to get those snazzy ad images onto my site. I want to work with the simple WP templates because they are clean and I like them, but I don't for the life of me understand how to get my ads placed into the margins. I realize just how noob this is, but...help anyway?

I mean, I haven't even added content to the site yet, and I know that should be my focus, but I just want to know how to insert ads when I'm ready.

Thanks!

    Here's what you do:

    1. Upload the images through the media library, available at: YOURSITE.com/wp-admin/media-new.php

    2. Copy the direct URLs of the images to notepad or something.

    3. Go to YOURSITE.com/wp-admin/widgets.php

    4. Select the Text widget and drag and drop it to the sidebar area you want to use

    5. Place this code inside the text widget:

    HTML Code:
    <a href="YOUR-TARGET-AD-URL" rel="nofollow"><img src="YOUR-IMAGE-URL" /></a>
    6. Click Save.

Keep in mind this is for a single image ad. If you need more, copy and paste more of such snippets of code into the text widget.

    What's a 'snazzy ad image'?

Is that different from a regular image?

If you want to add an image inside of Wordpress, make sure you are inside the visual editor then select 'Add Media'. When you do that you will be able to select which image you would like to import.

Here is a pretty good post about more ways you can align multiple images inside a Wordpress post: Wordpress HTML TABLES

If you are trying to get fancier, there are also some plugins that will stylize your entire sheet with equally spaced images, and make it pretty easy to change position on these images as needed.

Thanks guys. By snazzy I mean to ask if an affiliate will supply you with ad code (link and image) to put on your site. I've always used adsense, so I don't know how affiliate code works.

First off, determine the size of your sidebar ..the width mainly, then select a suitable "banner ad" no wider than your sidebar, from the affiliate program your going to be promoting and copy the code supplied.

Go to your widgets area of your wordpress site and select a "text" widget and post the code in there and save.

      Pretty easy really.

For a smart looking, smooth working, feature rich, responsive site that looks the business it's always worth spending a few $ on an awesome looking feature packed paid for theme, imho.

It may put some off buying from you (or into you) if they know you use the free basic standard theme. Worth considering?

Good luck with your site and share it when it's ready?
