Affiliate payout minimums.

Hi all,

Must admit that I am more than a bit bitter today. In January I promoted Anik Singhal's "Inbox Blueprint" and was informed I made some sales. They wrote back today to say I am not getting a penny because they have a payout minimum of $200, and to get it I either start promoting more of his products or accept that I lost the commissions. Sorry, but how can this be ?

I paid out of my own pocket to run CPC ads to promote this guy, not to mention hours of promotional work. So I'm sorry, but a $200 payout cap seems to benefit Mr Singhal and only Mr Singhal. Lord knows how many other small affiliates have made sales and never seen a dime back. It stinks.

I know some networks have a payout minimum, but not $200. I am with MoreNiche who have a minimum of just $75. That is more reasonable, but I still don't agree with this thinking. If I make a sale I expect to get it. How hard is it too pay someone an earned commission via PayPal ?

No, it seems in this case that the payout threshold is set to be conveniently high to benefit Mr Singhal.

Anyway, maybe I should calm down, but I'd appreciate your views on it. I'm very bitter at all the work I did and the CPC campaign money I threw down the drain, never mind the lost hours of work.

They did say that it is stated on the JV page, but I sure didn't see it. I guess it was very small print designed not to be seen. Besides, that's not the point. I believe 100% of earned commissions should be paid, even if it's $10.

Thanks.

Simon.

    Simon,

I don't think that you lost those commissions. It will show up in your account but you need to get over $200 to get paid those commissions.

They are not trying to rip you off or anything like that.

Many places work like that where you need to reach a minimum to get paid.

Some places you need to get to $50 and others, don't have any minimums.

A lot of companies have minimum payout requirements. You have to make sure you read the agreement prior to promoting offers.

Sorry to hear. But it looks like you're going to have to send some more traffic to get your payout.

Yeah, I am aware of that. It's just that it's left a bad taste on my mouth and now I have zero desire to promote anything else from this guy.

      Simon,

There is no shortage of opportunities for you to promote. If they left a bad taste in your mouth and you don't want to promote for them, then there are other options.

But the bad thing is that you will not get paid your commissions.

I would continue to promote for them and when I reach the $200 mark, then I would stop so that I do get paid my owed commissions.

Yeah I know. It's just that this one took me by surprise and made me a bit annoyed. As the other poster mentioned, he didn't see this $200 minimum either.

I'm just starting out in this game, and any money earned is a big thing for me. At the moment I work really hard for the little I do make. That's why I'm sad this has happened. I even spent 100 bucks on a Solo Ad to promote Inbox Blueprint. I built a small list into the bargain, but instead of paying for the Solo which I technically did, it's ended up as being a damn expensive small list.

Anyway, seems you lot don't think it's such a big problem, and I respect your views. Time I moved on I guess.

Been a bad start to the week all round really. Getting every damn Ad I submit to Facebook disapproved too. So frustrating. Maybe I give it a rest for a day and come back when I calmed down.

This IM lark is hard work.

I promoted that product and confess I did not know there was a $200 minimum. Fortunately I went over that so not a problem for me. I do not know this for a fact but I suspect that they may have the $200 minimum on this because it was a $100 commission for one sale. So if you signed up and bought the product yourself this way you would just be giving yourself a discount without really helping them with sales at all. If you bought yourself and made just one sale you should hit the $200 minimum. Again I don't know that this is the reason but if I was running the program I might do the same thing.

Minimums are an incentive to push products. It keeps affiliates and it makes you push their product.

Just to also add that I recently promoted an Alex Jeffreys product via JVZoo and made a few $9 sales, and got paid out within a week !!

Sorry, but for me a commission is a commission. If I do the work and make a sale I expect to be paid, and not be forced to accept that the money I invested in CPC campaigns was lost.

      Hi Simon,
I also promoted inbox empire and I may share my experience with them down the track but for now what I wanted to say is it seems that you need to get your commissions quickly because of limited budgets etc

Try promoting products from jvzoo productpay.com
Product pay had a fairly limited selection of products but you get paid immediately... like ...as the sale is actually made...
From memory paydotcom.com also did the same thing. You can also get instant payments from some jvzoo vendors if you either have a relationship with them or contact them first and have a chat with them and explain your situation.

Many companies have a minimum payout threshold so they protect themselves from people trying to buy a product or service through their own affiliate links and then vanishing into the night.

The amount is not what matters, but how many sales it takes to reach it. If the commission is $400, then I assume a $1,000 threshold wouldn't be a big problem. You only have to make 3 sales to reach it. But if the commission is $20 and the threshold is $200, then you might have a problem. (But even then, if sales are expected to be made very easy, they could justify the high number of sales needed for the commission to be released.)

I don't know how much you got per sale for promoting that Inbox thing, but if you needed a lot of sales to reach the threshold, then one can only wonder what the intentions of the seller were, especially in the IM/MMO niche where the mindset is to sc*ew other overs in order to make money (by making use of hype, false claims, hiding important information, etc.)
