Anyone have another suggestion for me?

Ok so I decided I wanted to make a personal blog for IM, my jorney, whatever really. Point is.....

ericdean.com and ericdean.net are TAKEN

I want the .com so i contacted the owner Eric Dean, who advised me he has no intention on selling or letting it lapse. He uses it for personal emails and has no content on the site.

I tried playing around with other names but none felt "good enough" .... Any suggestions on using my name?

I looked at imericdean.com and mrericdean.com and ericdeanonline.com and ericdeanlive.com ...... I would love to hear opinions though. Thanks

PS - MOds If this is the wrong thread Please feel free to move as I dont want to violate any TOS

Not for me no, I've used -'s before with no problem, but it's you're call really. You could also try a .biz

Look at Source-Wave.com - they're a GIANT now for the SEO 'niche'

No matter what you do there will be a percentage of the people that will put ericdean.com in the address bar

This is my fear for even going with my name, once it leads to a dead end I feel my rep will be hurt....

I do like the suggestions and I appreciate everyone's input, I guess I need to reevaluate like sean said and see if i want to brand myself, or attach my name to the brand im working on. (kind of like Kelly felix is known as the rich jerk and not many people know his name, but in his sales page he says Im kelly Felix aka The Rich Jerk)

ok Time for some soul searching before making the next move

What would it take away? Honestly I would not spent a lot of time in the site name. Its the content thats important. You could call it blablabal.us and if it had great content people would come to it.

Nope. Site name doesn't make you money... marketing does. I would roll with eric-dean.com. Seems more coherent anyway.

    CrazyEric.com -- Just kidding

If you want to self brand, put some time into thinking about the type of experience you are want to give your audience. For a talk show theme, EricOnIM.com . For a guru/seminar feel, EricsMarketingGuide.com. etc etc

I believe that your audience will better find your website if its URL will be based on what you are selling, and not on your name.

    why not ericdean.me ?

i know .com is favoured, but if the site will be about you and your journey, so .me seems fitting

EricdeanIM and ericdeanmarketing and ericdeanblog are all good suggestions. I don't know, I don't really like "-" in domains. If someone wants to know your domain name you have to tell them eric dash dean dot whatever? Just seems sloppy to me. That's just my opinion.

But you have some good options there ... even the .me one is a good touch if it's a personal blog describing your journey.
