Is a Mixed Email Marketing List Good??

Hey Warriors,

I have a question, I haven't thought about it till know, but the last time I checked my clickbank account for where my sales were coming from, it was mostly the US, and Canada, some from France... This concerns me, because 23% of my list contains subscribers are from farther countries like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Egypt, and almost no sales are coming from them. What does this mean? Should I remove these people from my list, are they not able to make purchases because of possible language/ currency barriers? What should I do? Thanks in advanced...

P.S. my statistics show that they ARE responsive subscribers... (They click links and open emails)

How do you acquire your list? Are they buyers or are they freebie seekers. You will find that a lot of people who opt in via a squeeze page will open your emails but never buy. They are just opening them to see if you are giving away something for free again.

They were acquired through squeeze page and confirmation email, and some of them do buy...

Not to sound obvious but if you can analyze what your buyers look like then you want to add more people to your list who "look" like your typical buyers. I would not eliminate anyone else but you might try different offers to them and see if there is something else that sells. Its just another way of segmenting your list and marketing accordingly. But don't just toss people off your list.

    Filtering by country is subjective...

People from these "other" countries do still buy stuff, but it is normally less due to the things you mentioned.

Really, it's just a decision you will have to make yourself for your own business. If they are active I would probably leave them on my list for a little longer. If however you are getting close to a "subscriber limit" (like when you cross 10,000 at Aweber, the monthly bill doubles) then I might remove them.

But the first folks I would worry about removing are the ones that aren't opening the emails.

There are also third party tools that will allow you to better track and segment your lists.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

    Cheers,
    Coby

No don't just delete people from other countries. 95% of your list in US and Canada won't buy too. And that is exactly why as a marketer, you need to keep generating leads. I made a sale that netted me a $5,000 from a person I never spoke to in Afghanistan.

This person was in 'active' duty US military overseas there during war.

And I had to send her about 20 video CD's for training because she couldn't access them since the base had high level security on their computers.

But she still managed to get her business up and running and made three $1,000 (profit sales each) from using a previous system.

Keep in mind that many people overseas have trouble making payments because they are overseas. Something to do with credit cards ETC.

This doesn't mean that they don't can't afford your stuff.

You can never tell who is where and what they will be willing to buy from you.

From my point of view is important to have the list as segmented as possible and send specific emails to specific segments.

In this way your email marketing service bill will be lower if you pay by the number of emails you send and you will have less angry customers.

Based on your country example, you can recommend to your pakistan subscribers a product that can't be bought from pakistan and it's a shame.

    Nicolas,

I would not delete anyone from your list right now. I would offer them other products because maybe the ones that you have now don't speak any English or are just not willing to join anything that you offer.

Anywhere that you are getting your leads from, it would be better to get more US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. These are all English speaking countries so if you can get all your leads from these countries, you should do that.

You will also be surprised to know that I had customers from all over the world where English is not a first language like Nigeria, Romania, and many other non speaking English countries.

I think you should clean your email database and let the people remain in the list who are purchasing your products. Because people from Asian countries rarely used credit cards/ payment gateways which is an essential need to make a payment online.
