"Building a list" in the age of disposable emails
I recently put up a forex site. Being the forex niche (ultra competitive) I honestly didn't expect much in way of traffic, but many years ago I had written a forex book so decided to just convert it to a website.
On the website, I offer the entire book as free PDF if you don't want to sit and read it online. You just enter your email address and it emails you a link to the PDF. Pretty standard stuff.
What is interesting is that I've had about 10 registrations over the last 3 weeks, and ALL 10 used "disposable" email addresses. They were from different email providers so not in any way related. In other words, people are wanting the PDF but I guess scared of being spammed, so resorting to disposable/one-time use email addresses.
What this means of course is that list building in this manner is completely useless.
