Hello question about lists

I am new to all of this, and I'm not sure what list building is, although I believe it is a lust of emails? How do I build a list..do I copy and paste the address into word or something? Why is it so important to have a list? I sell on ebay I probably have over 1000 emails from Paypal payments is that good to start a list?

    You build a list by asking people to sign up for your list.

    In your case you can use Aweber to automatically sign up your customers.

    You aren't just building a list of emails. You need to think of it as building a community that you will be able to communicate with on an ongoing basis. If you add real value your "list" will return real value.

      If you're serious about building a list then Aweber takes some beating.

      They've got some decent tutorials on their site and it doesn't take long to learn how to created decent opt-in forms and subscriber emails.

      Agree with above comments though, you've got to give value to your subscribers, still working on that myself

    Hey Monkmoney

    Here are the basics:

    1. You build a list by collecting the email addresses of customers or prospects.

    2. You'll use an autoresponder service to send out emails to build a relationship with them and of course offer them more opportunities to buy from you. The big advantage with a list is that even if you only break even on your initial sale (or if you lose money) the list allows you to try to make a profit on the backend

    IMPORTANT The people on your list need "opt in" ie. they need to sign up to receive your emails

    Some popular email autoresponder services include GetResponse, Aweber and Mailchimp

    You send people or any interested in your topic to your website.

    On your website, you give them the option to subscribe to your newsletter. Maybe you are offering them a free report or something.

    Once that are on your list, you can send them an email anytime you want and sell to them what ever you want.

    Make sure that they know who they are signing up to. Show your picture and name on your opt in page and also on your thank you page.

      Wow thank you all for the quick replies. I think I understand now, I guess my paypal addresses are slightly worthless since sending them email would be unsolicited

      One last question/clarification.. when creating the thing to get people to give emails..do those programs mentioned ie aweber collect and store the emails for you? Or is there a different software that does the collecting and that software then used to feed the auto responder?

    You build a list by having a squeeze page set up, promising them a freebie. If you want, you can set up backend monetizing options such as OTO and affiliate products if you do not have your own to monetise them as you build your list.

    Hi,

    1) You need to create a product or service that will actually get a potential buyer
    to reach a certain goal or solve a particular problem.

    2) That's how you build a "BUYERS" list. Having a buyers list is a far greater asset
    to have in your list building business than just a prospects list alone.

    3) If your first product/service delivered then it's going to be far easier for
    you to sell more products further down your funnel.

    4) Combine this with creating an effective funnel that keeps on offering useful
    and value packed products and services and you have yourself a list building business
    that has potential to grow.

    So, look at how you could offer something of real value first to sell to others
    and build a highly responsive email list that way.

    This will set the tone for future promotions you have to send out to your buyers lists.
