A Few "Domain Type" questions.

Hi All,

So I'm about to start a website. But I want to take my time with this one.
Its going to be about Android is a whole, but I think that given time, I may start to write about Technology things in general.

My questions are:

Does a domain keyword still carry weight within Ranking? E.g. if I had "Android" within my domain, will that give me any ranking increase? Or do Google not really use domain any more?

Also, if Google does give weight to Keyword domains, is it a good idea that I stick SOLELY to Android, or would writing about tech in general be okay ?

Thanks

The first thing you need to know is that Android is a registered trademark and you shouldn't use it in your domain name.

Many people wrongly use trademarks in their domain names. They are always vulnerable to a take-down notice or a lawsuit. Some trademark owners are more vigorous about pursuing violations.

It really is not a good idea and devalues the site if you want to sell it because the new owner takes on the risk.

Keywords in the domain tend not to help in your organic rankings as much as they once did. I would focus on creating a relevant and memorable domain instead.

Agreed. Something that's related to your topic yet brandable is your best option.

    wilks3y,

The only thing for sure will Increase is the risk of being sued because using
the word "Android". Wont be the first time Google have done it.

a good domain name will help you to brand and rank on the internet. go for a brand able easy domain name or find a domain name with a keyword having lots of search volume. its best but hard to find the combination of two
