Why? Won't I lose more subscribers if they have to come back and confirm opt in?

Ahhh, the eternal double/single opt-in debate.
This has been debated on so many forums, FB groups, etc, and nobody has come up with a definitive answer.
Single opt-in and you'll grow your list bigger and quicker, but many say that the list is not as responsive.
I can't comment on that, as I use double opt-in. I believe that if someone takes the trouble to confirm their opt-in, they're more likely to open any emails I send, as it shows more of a willingness to be on my list.

There is a big debate on whether you should use single opt ins or double opt ins.

Most of the experts in online marketing that I follow use single opt ins and there is no need to use double.

I am not agree with talfighel because when you use signle opt in people put any fake id for there free gift but if you use double opt in then people compel to put there real email.I highly suggest to use double opt in.

This is a school of thought which has been going on for a while.

Option A: Single Opt - ins: Great to make things easy for your subscriber. Also means you'll get many more subscribers because those who opt-in don't have to confirm themselves as subscribers.

Option B: Double-Opt ins: Also great because you can be sure that those who confirm their initial opt-in are actually real subscribers who are interested in what you're offering.. Thus you're ensuring you've got yourselves some high quality subscribers on your list. Of course this also means, you get less subscribers than under the first option because many wont confirm...

Personally, I'd go with Single Opt-in. Why? Well, if you're launching a product & sending out an email in your list. Would you rather send it to:

- 500 subscribers that you got under Option B?

- or 1000 subscribers that you got under Option A?

Remember, even though Option B gives you a higher quality of subscribers, you shouldn't ignore the potential presented by the other 500 under Option A. As low quality as they may be, there may still be potential buyers there... Don't leave money on the table!

I use single... BUT:

1) I know what I'm doing... i'm not new to list building
2) I don't use a conventional service like aWeber or mailChimp (I use my own mail program)
3) I manage my list very closely and have a good relationship with my mailer (Amazon)

With Double-Opt in you will have less subscribers, but your list will be of higher quality. What is more important to you? Having a giant unresponsive list? Or a small higher quality list? You decide.
