Purge deadheads off my list

I've got an old list and only about 10% seem to be readers. What in your opinion is the coolest way to get the deadbeats off the list?

I had intended to offer people some cool download to join my newer list, then after a period of time simply turn off the old one. Usually this forum has people with better ideas. What do you think would be a cool way to do it?

What's the cost of maintaining that list??

If it's not a lot perhaps you can win them back.

a 10% open rate is pretty decent but it could be a lot better.

Don't give up on them yet - especially if your list is a decent size.

    Hope This Helps !!

Anytime a list of mine goes below 27% I offer a freebie to the list for seven days . On the eighth day I hit the delete button .

I have found that if you have a free service it works better than trying to give them another ebook. A promo that works well for me is to offer to send the converting list member's url to 1000 of my list members . Kind of a mini jv offer . This converts to most of my list for the fact that I work the IM niche a lot . For my other niches I use relevant bait

I have some people tell me I am crazy to not sell the unresponsive list but that just doesn't seem right to me .

If the emails are being delivered but not opened you need to get their attention using a really good subject line - like you would use for AdWords for example.

Many though are mailboxes the users never check, so will never see your emails.

It is too risky to delete subscribers - you just never know when they might be tempted by something.

If you use AWeber one thing you need to is manually delete all the unsubscribed leads - otherwise they charge you for them even though they are worthless.

I have asked them for an option where leads are automatically deleted when they unsubscribe, but my guess is they make a fortune on them, because few people actually know they are being charged and/or delete them.

I think you'll find any autoresponder - including aweber charges you for a sign up - doesn't matter if they have unsubscribed or you have deleted them, they - those subscribers add up. Full strop!.

You get charged for each subscriber to your list, the unsubscribers don't count, in any way shape or form.

Scott, to be honest, I wouldn't delete anyone I'd just leave it to them to delete themselves.

If you are getting bounces, then that's a different matter, delete the bounces as they have probably changed ISP provider and forgotten that they needed to change their email addy to your list. Or, they might have re signed up with their new addy anyway.

There are always a hundred reasons we don't think of, and neither do our subscribers.

      Hope that helps,

      Janet
