Copyright: where do 'they' draw the line?

Just here on this forum and so much inspiration and knowledge: wow!
I am about to make a product and now I'm dealing with the following thing. What I've learned is from books and if I write my own manual then it sure follows guidelines from those books. In my own words, but whatever, it might look like someone else's work. It is in my own words, with my own thoughts. Is this okay in terms of copyright?"
