What to do with a growing Twitter followers list?

Now that I have my Twitter followers growing at a good pace, I'm wondering what to do with it? What are some of the things you all are doing with Twitter that are successful?

There are various apps where you can use auto functionality. We also use the search bar to hone in on theme-specific posts relative to our niches. Click the FindTips.com link below and search on "Twitter Marketing Tips". You'll find a plethora of information.

Why would you do that when you need to be at my site clicking on my links.

Seriously; our engine at Find Tips is a custom Google search engine so the feed is, in many cases, more relevant in that it's refined for "tips" related searches. Although with "Twitter Marketing Tips" it seems to bring up many similar results (perhaps because that phrase is extremely popular), you'll notice that with many other search phrases, the results are quite different.

Actually I explored your site..the forum and the tips and such. You have a good thing going there. What sort of site views do you get? Maybe you could branch into an ehow.com type thing...or video tips.

We're thinking about that. FindTips just went up a couple of weeks ago and we're still in planning mode. Our traffic is light right now but I feel confident that it will explode if we do it right. We're a bit spread thin with many sites and projects going on at the same time.

Hey, the vote of confidence means more than you know. Thanks!

Are they targeted to a particular niche?

If so, you can connect to them, provide them with links to some awesome content, some sales pitches as well and make a chunk of money. Twitter is a very good way to relax, interact and communicate with your following in any niche market.

I see, so you suggest the casual, non-invasive approach?

To me, Twitter is an interaction platform. I connect to my audience, they connect to me. I use it to build relationships directly and indirectly make a little money. It doesn't form a substantial part of my business, and never will.

I use twitter to build my list . Come to think of it I use everything to build my list :-)

What works for me might not work for you . I have done this from day one so it is what a follower should expect from me . I even state in my profile that I do it .

I give a lot of free make money online resources away . Even though I give a lot of stuff away I still interact one on one a lot and retweet things that interest me .

I have received 428 list members in the last 24 hours from twitter traffic alone . I guess that it would not be smart to build a business on twitter alone . But then it is never smart to build a business on any single aspect .

I visited your Twitter profile and followed you. I see how you're linking to your list building url and making your list grow that way. Your results seem to be good. Thanks for the input!

That's amazing. I have about the same number of followers as you and don't get anywhere near 400 opt-ins. But Twitter has been good for testing headlines.

I personally do not see Twitter as having much tangible IM value for the effort, but I must say I have never really tested it.

Tangible value . How many totally free resources do you have that can add 400 + members to your list in actually a little over 16 hours ?

That may not be a bad thing . I am starting to catch myself limiting my conversations to 140 characters or less even if I am not online :-)

Great question nebraska, it reminded me of the simple things that well...simply work, simply.

"Until you ask your market what they want or need, you're just guessing."

Hope that helps you and others reading as much as it helps "simplify" things for me and those I coach.

Again, thanks for the re-minder, I really mean that! :-)

Twitter is a grate source of free traffic. You can ask your follow what they are interested in, make a product about it and sell it to them. Its all about market research, why would you create a product that no one wants to buy?

Twitter is fantastic for growing your list and promoting your site. Especially a blog. Everytime I update my blog (once or more every 2 days) I let my followers know about it 3 times that day with 8 hour intervals. At my current follower count, that drives about 200 visitors to the site which in turn brings aff sales, Adsense clicks and sign ups.

I also automate a tweet that points directly to my sign up page. That posts once per day and brings a few new leads everytime.

If used right Twitter is almost a business in a box. Fun doing it too!

    Kind Regards
    Gary

I agree with the positive statements about Twitter. I have turned my marketing efforts solely over to Twitter since it is the easiest source of leads and traffic I have ever gotten.

Traffic is fast. Building the list is fast. Everything needs to be setup properly, but when it is and "automated," you'll be pinching yourself.

Follow me. I'll follow you back. We can chat about it.

You can tie twitter in to your facebook updates by using #fb after your update. That also updates your facebook update at the same time by only doing one update. There is a small install to do within your facebook account.

Another good thing to do if you are an ezine article author, you can set it up so your new articles are released as an update thru twitter when they are released.

All are free, anyone else have any tips to add.

One thing to keep in mind about Twitter is that you have a 5 to 6 minute window.... Thus meaning, when you post a new Tweet, it is basically active for 5 to 6 minutes.... I have time tested and proved this method with analytics....

Tweeting throughout the day is a great benefit when posting updates on Twitter!

To better benefit yourself on Twitter, it would be a good idea to put it on autopilot with the intention to not over update.... Say like 20 per day.... 20 per day should give you an average daily traffic generation of 260 - 320 visits....

There are a lot of people who do more than 20 per day and they get labeled as spambots really fast....

It depends on the list. There's a lot of ideas on my forum. Check out the Blackhat section and some of the downloads for ideas. Personally I think the easiest thing to push on Twitter is Twitter-related products.

Here's what I do: I use Twitter to drive traffic to my blog. The main way that I make money is by writing press releases. I drive as many as a few hundred people in a day to my blog by Tweeting links to interesting posts, as in: "here's why your press release got rejected"(put link URL here) or "Here's my list of free press release distribution sites (put link URL here.

And several people a week end up ordering press release services from me when I do this. I find most of my clients via Twitter.

So basically, I am using Twitter to establish myself as the expert in my field and to find new clients.

Its also nice to have a few Twitter accounts and build them all up. Twitter has been known to dump/suspend accounts with little or warning or explanation.
