Purchasing domain names with privacy?

The last time I purchased any domains was a few months ago for my business. I bought all the suffixes and got privacy, etc. By the time I was done, it was a chunk of change that will be recurring with renewals.

In reading some of these posts, it sounds like most of you have lots of domains (some sound like 100s). Is there a less expensive way to buy these, do you opt for the privacy options, etc? Thanks.

Some domain registrars offer free privacy as long as you have an account with them.

You do not need lots of domains.

It is better - in my experience of course - to focus on building an authority site around a single domain.

While it may not be significant to start with, after a few months your site will begin to gain pages and importance with Google which, in the longer term, is very valuable.

Building sites for Google from the outset is no longer of primary value, but as a long-term strategy is of great value if you stick to SEO principles.

If you have a single site you will also pick up sales from people browsing the site.

Yes having keywords in the domain name is effective, but you can only include a couple of keywords, and using keywords in the URL is nearly as effective and of course you can use as many as you want - a keyword per page.

My advice is choose just one generic domain name for your IM, register it with Go Daddy and opt for their Domains by Proxy privacy.

You can then spend your time doing IM and making money instead of building sites which have little or no long term value.

    Hi Benq,

I've been using domaincentral.com for all my domain names for
years without any problems. They charge $8 a year for one name
    and privacy is included free.

I agree about not buying too many domain names. It depends on what you will be using them for.

If you are using the additional domain names to do affiliate marketing you do not need to do that. I add a directory at the end of my main domain name ie. /afflinkname (whatever description you wish to use) and then within my c panel I do a re-direct to the affiliate domain with my affiliate number. It shows you main domain URL with the /afflinkname but re-directs to the affiliate link.

Works very well without purchasing a load of domain names.

Purchasing domains with privacy as an extra fee can really add up when you have many domains.... I have found a hosting provider that does not charge it, but feel that in the near future they will.... For me I have over a hundred domains and the extra "NO COST" of privacy is a definite benefit....

I am unsure if you can place active links on this forum for I am a newbie here, but if you search for Bluehost you will find it....
