I just noticed one of my high-ranking websites has been stolen, moved to a different account at Name.com and then hosted elsewhere.

What can I do to get it back?

Thanks in advance,
dave

How did it get "stolen"? Did you simply forget to renew the domain?

Thats pretty sneaky. if you forgot to renew it, then its pretty much gone unless you buy it back from him.

this happened to me a few times with domain names that was making money but i had little interest in so i let em just expire.

should of atleast sold them on flippa

If I'd forgotten to renew, I certainly would not consider it stolen...

I'll drop a line to support at name.com

That's the thing to do in your situation. Expect that, alas, to take time.

      Good luck.

name.com is the only one who can help you with this. I'd be changing all my passwords in the meantime.

It sounds as if you Name account has hacked and the domain transferred out. This had happened to me before at Godaddy with more than a hundred names. I got all of them back, not before the hacker sold some of them to other people. But I got those back as well. You must contact Name immediately so they will prevent the domain from being transferred to another Registrar.

Do not get between a wombat and a chocolate biscuit; you will regret it dearly!

May be you used easier password and someone logged into your account and made the transfer.

I am not sure you can get it back. But try anyway with the domain registrar.

I've seen this happen when someone challenges your legal right to the name, supported with documentation. If someone claims trademark rights to the name, you could find that the name is transferred away.

You haven't contacted your registrar yet? You need to find out what happened.

      Then you should ask:
      • Was there communication from your registrar?
      • Did you have an opportunity to see the documentation or at least to know your domain was in jeopardy?
      • Can whatever documentation submitted to your registrar by the competing domainer be validated?
      • What procedures were used to validate the legal rights to your domain/site?
With this information, you can approach an attorney.

Don't play pattycakes with the registrar. They usually aren't responsive to these kinds of issues. You should get an attorney involved.

It might cost a couple of hours consultation, but you'll get to the bottom of it quickly, and maybe get your domain back.

If you forgot to renew the domain name, that is your fault and there is no way to get it back.
