What's the next natural step after Adsense?

I've completed what I thought was a niche site but now I'm not so sure.

My site offers advice for spring cleaning and organizing your life and I've placed adsense ads and some Amazon links on it. I'm in the process of learning to drive traffic to the site and it's tough because I chose keywords based on the fact that they were high traffic and low competition. The problem is, the low competition is related to the number of advertisers associated with the keyword instead of traffic not being served.
Another thing is, the more I think about it, I give so much advice that there's nothing I can think to add or even sell. Where should I go from here? Thanks for any and all help you can offer and if you have more questions, I'm willing to answer anything to get help.

(PS. This is more about the site than Adsense, hence, my post in this category.)

Good for you for taking action.

The problem though with spring cleaning and organizing is those keywords are not exactly "buyer keywords". So someone coming to your site is more likely to read an article to get information than leave instead of taking action and buying something or clicking on an ad.

What I would suggest you do is add in some product reviews on tools to make spring cleaning easier such as vacs, drawer organizers etc. and sell these as an affiliate. The terms will help boost the CPC from AdSense and may help you increase your ad clicks or click thrus to an affiliate product.

For affiliate companies in addition to Amazon also consider networks that offer the hot as seen on tv products like As Seen On PC and Offershot.

You are absolutely right, my keywords are not buying keywords, but it is something I'm passionate about. I really love the product review idea! I will definitely check out "As Seen On PC" and "Offershot" as well. Thanks for some really good advice!

This is the reason why proper niche selection is necessary.

You must provide fresh content to your website (You can hire a guy for it).Google loves new content and peoples too .

Make you site more engaging ,like insert polls ,quizzes and do some video for your audience.

Look for similar website and try to share blog post with them.

Use social media actively and embed them on your website also

    Hope it helps

I'm sure I can come up with polls and even quizzes for my niche. Stuff like "Are you a clutterbug? Take our quiz!" There's probably some pretty standard way to "poll" on Facebook and drive people to the quiz on my site.

I'm starting to get some good ideas here. Thanks a bunch!
