List or Product Launch?

If you're planning to release a product to build your list fast, will it be counter intiutive? Wouldn't it be nice to have a buyers list right off the bat? Or is it better to have a list first before you launch a product?

Something to think about.

Yes, you're right - it would be nice. But what you can do while building your own list is to market the product to your target market to make some sales, and at the same time get them onto your list. The two things work together.

Research solo sellers. Some actually do have buyers list they mail to.

If you have a product you want to launch, you can always use solo ads to produce sales.

You can even build your list that way.

    Building a list is important.
Even if you will not make any sales.
So in my opition it is the best to have some simple and good Lead magnet to get opt ins.
Spending time on product development first is the wrong idea.
    But maybe it's just me

This is kind of like a chicken and the egg question.

Yes, it's great to have a buyers list before launching a product but you don't get a list of buyers without selling something first.

That is exactly how to do it: Release a product and have a buyers list.

Now, the problem that you can better release a product once you have a list
can be handled with a JV.

Find somebody that has a list related to your product and launch together.

  • Build your list first. If you decide to try and drive traffic to your product or an affiliate product always direct your traffic to a squeeze page first so you capture your lead then to the product.
    This is simple but effective
    Hope this helps you

It is better to have a list before you launch a product but you have to start somewhere right?

Just release your product and if it doesn't do well just release another product and another until you get the results you're looking for.

You will learn from each product launch and you will be building a buyer's list.

Ideally it's better to have a responsive list before you launch (they don't necessary have to be a 100% buyers list), there's two main reasons for this:

    1) Reciprocation - if you do a decent number of sales on another person's launch, you have a better chance of them mailing for you.

    2) Conversion rate/EPC - if you have a list that is responsive right out of the gate you should be able to move copies and "pad" your numbers. Other affiliates will see this and jump on board.

If you have good product, the list will come by itself.

I have launched a wso without any list, then warriors find it good, they purchased immediately, plus affiliates excited to promote.

I got sales and list at once. Plus WSOTD of course

    Make it a triple.

    Build your product

    Create a list

    Create a social network page

10K real FB followers have in my opinion the same (Or even more) value than 10K email list.

Do both at the same time.

In fact, if you do a proper seed launch, you can also develop the product.

Since the PLF launch is over for this year, go to Amazon and check out Jeff Walker's Launch book.

In my opinion this boils down to the core question "Where do you offer value?" Unless you just purchased the list (strongly disagree with) people are only going to subscribe to your list if you offer them something they value.

So in response to your question
If you're planning to release a product to build your list fast, will it be counter intuitive? Wouldn't it be nice to have a buyers list right off the bat? Or is it better to have a list first before you launch a product?
You need to ask yourself where is the value you offer. Is it knowledge of a product they gain from someone who's opinion they "value" or is it a product they "value" and want to know more about?

If it's the former build your list first. If it's the later release your product first.

Meaning if you offer valuable information and then you offer them a product. Your product will probably do well. If you offer them a valuable product and by signing up to your list they will get more valuable products it's 6 in one hand half dozen in the other.

On the flip side if you try to sell to a list where you have never established any value your results will be poor and alternatively if you offer a product with little value you will never get a good list.

It's better to have a responsive list of subscribers & customers before you decide to launch a product.

Well since scrapping my list, and starting over ( hopefully the right way this time)

I think developing a quality eBook for Free on the front end with give-away rights to build my list, credibility & deliver value, while promoting a video course on the backend could do both!

The only hang up I forsee is getting others to promote the sales funnel, as they will only earn on the video course.

That 2- stage product creation alone is taking me forever to get done, lol.

It's better to build your own list than to use an already existing list.

Yes, it is good to build your own email lists, but building a list is a long process and also time consuming.

After launching your product, you can start marketing by using Social media Site, then you can make a list, even you can do the Forum posting, Relevant Blog commenting & so on. Thanks

It's better to have a list first before you launch a product. Your list should contain a mixture of existing customers, and fresh/working leads in your email marketing funnel. No matter how long it takes, building a good list up first would be better.
