Today I sold my first produc and paypal freezes the money for this transaction?

Hello everyone,
Today I have made my first sell and some minutes later I got an email from paypal saying that they sometimes need more informations on a specific transaction. They told me to write some information about the product under "conflict solving".
They won't give me the money until the investigation is over.
Its a digital product and costs 148$. Why do they make such a big deal out of this?
I don't have a business paypal account because I dont have any company. I only have a private account. Is maybe this a problem?
what should I tell them?

What exactly did they ask for ?
Are you a "verified" user ?
What kind of product are you selling ?

Give us those informations, and i guess we'll be able to answer you precisely !

    Cheers, Samuel.

from time to time PayPal will investigate transactions - I had one earlier this week where they thought it was a fraudulent transaction. I did as they asked and a day or so later they released the funds.

Basically, from the moment you provide all the documents they ask for, they will have to release the money. So just do what they told you to do and you shouldn't have any problems !

      Cheers, Samuel.

I believe the reason they flagged your account is you sold a product using a personal account. Under their TOS personal accounts are only to be used to send money back and forth between family and friends. If you are selling any kind of products they require you to have a premier or business account.

It's a random thing. You're account has to be verified to send and receive certain amounts. Paypal will tell you what they need from you to get the transaction processed properly. Once that's done you're in the good.

Hi Johhny. To my knowledge you don't need either of their business accounts to sell products. They make the "Merchant" tools which let you build shopping cart and buy it now buttons from the very first day you sign up.

I love Paypal, but I also recommend Google Merchant. They're a lot simpler to work with than Paypal, but it's tricky to get them to work with Wordpress.

      Blessings,
      Beau

Provide them with the most information you can. And don't forget to verify your account. Send them everything they need to remove all limits. You should have already done this before you even started selling.

That happens to me a lot!

BUT GOSH! You said this is your first sale?! :/ That's unlucky man...

I don't want you to lose hope but whenever paypal freezed my money, I never got it back

They offer no protection at all for people who sell DIGITAL products.

Anyway, I really hope that you can sort it out.

    $148 aren't peanuts...

    Good luck man

Don't worry - just provide them with the info they require.

I use PayPal extensively - merchant status - never had an issue with them.

I started with a personal account with Paypal, and then converted to a premium account. No problem since then.
