Your Preferred Blogging Platform?

WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr, etc. Which one do you like best? Right now I'm leaning toward WordPress but wanted to get some feedback. Thanks everyone.

The best blogging platform out there is Wordpress... No second thought.

Blogger is free as in "you don't have to pay", but so is WordPress.com's basic offering. WordPress.org (the self-hosted CMS) is a open source script, and WP.com is based on the same codebase. So you can make an argument that WP.com is "more free" in that sense.

Of the hosted platforms I'd pick WP.com, because it's fairly straightforward to move to WP.org.

However, Ghost is perhaps the most interesting blogging tool right now. No bloat, just the essentials.

        What's your excuse?

A lot of people on this forum are going to tell you Wordpress is the best. I actually use it myself, but I'm not convinced it's the best simply because I haven't tried any other CMS platforms yet! I suspect not many other people have either. Lol.

When I get a bit more time I intend to experiment with some of the others. If you're just starting out with CMS why not try out a few before making a final decision? I wish I had! If you install Wamp or something similar on your PC you can experiment offline. Otherwise you can just make separate installs into different folders on your domain - www.yourdomain.com/joomla/ www.yourdomain.com/cushycms/ etc., you get the idea!

Simple "Wordpress.com, Blogger, Tumblr, Wix etc." you don't own the blog and you can be shut down at any time.

Build your business on a solid foundation and go with a self hosted option where you are not relying on a 3rd party

Agreed with the above comment. Making a blog on your own domain costs so little and you get complete control of your site!

I'd had it if someone else had the rights to shutdown my blog D:
