Malware Hijacks Aweber Links - What to do?

Hi everyone,

One of my subscribers seems to have malware on his computer. Every time he clicks on an aweber link he gets sent to a spammy site.

Does anyone know how to remove this?

TIA,

Sara

    Sara,

You seem to have three duplicate threads posted for this topic.

If the malware is on his PC, then he could download and run malwarebytes. It's a free program for finding and dealing with malware on an infected computer. Other programs are available, and no doubt there will be other recommendations.

He should also carry out scans for viruses and spyware. I use AVG and Super Anti Spyware. So far these have served me well. But again, there are other programs available.

I think there must be a glitch with the database, as other threads appear to be getting duplicated as well!

The free version of AVG works well for this
issue. My PC was recently infected w/ these
viruses and it made working near impossible.

    It was bad!

If your subscriber doesn't want to download
AVG, then they can use Microsoft Windows
Defender - which usually is pre-installed on
    newer versions of Windows.

    It works great, too!

Give us an update if it worked out for
    you two.

      I have a conundrum.
clicks.aweber. com/ (the space before the com(s) are to stop the forum from changing the link) with anything after the slash takes my browser to: http://205.234.159.98/
which, in turn, automatically forwards my browser to: http://themillionairesociety. co/index.php?clickID=2342805883&aff=swclick&c =US&tid=10272413d5af6ea518c2ad65145236
or http://www.thebillionairemethod. com/?clickID=2393872533 or some other promotional site. They seem to change from time to time.

I have tried a complete anti-virus scan, AVG (paid) and searched for malware/spyware using SpyHunter. Neither found anything related to this.

I have checked my addons in Firefox nothing there. On my computer MSIE and Chrome also are caught in this trap.
I tried repairing my Windows 7 with the program from tweaking.com. It repaired a lot of things but didn't find the problem.

I tried my laptop and my wife's computer they both function correctly.

I have checked my Firefox addons but nothing is unusual there either.
This issue is not connected to Aweber in a mechanical sense. but I asked them if they'd had this problem before hoping this had come up and they might know a solution or can point me in the correct direction. They've had this come up before but don't have an answer.

I hope someone here can get more specific then the answers to the original question have produced to this point.

I would also think that any marketer participating in this scam should be banned from this forum for life at the very least. They're easy enough to identify from the
http://205.234.159.98/ relay site - but that's not my call.

You need to download a hosts file editor.
Then delete all the entries regarding awebet etc.
Save it and then reboot. This solves the problem its a hostsfile issue.
