I need an alternative to GoDaddy domain renewal.. NameCheap or other?

I use namecheap for all my domains, but if you're tired of paying so much on domains, you can always look for coupon codes.

I think Godaddy has come down on their renewal prices... about a year ago I remember paying around $17.99 just for the renewal.

Their platform is convenient to keep track of all of your domains but I agree, too expensive. I also have domains with NameCheap - no complaints, they do a good job with domains.

I currently use both for domains. Started out using
GoDaddy first but got introduced to Namecheap
YEARS later.

I like Namecheap.

Not just their prices, but the interface on their
website. GoDaddy's can be intimidating - especially
for a newbie.

Over the past 6 months I've used Namecheap's
customer service extensively. They don't talk
much, but they certainly know where to find
the information you're asking for.

They aren't that personal, but very knowledgeable.

Not all the time will a Namecheap domain
beat a GoDaddy price, though. Which is why I
still use both. But if I was forced to go w/ one
it would be Namecheap.

Well 13 isnt that bad you could go to register or network and pay 34 lol. I use namecheap.

Now I do buy domains from register and network all the time for .50 cents and when I have a new pre paid card. But when its almost time to renew I switch it to namecheap or they will say if you stay we will only charge you 10 dollars.

I agree with the other posters, I too once used GoDaddy but have been using Name Cheap for several years now. But like Kevin says they are not very chatty. If You are an independent learner and want to save some money Name Cheap is a top contender.

That settles it then, Name Cheap it is. See-yuh GoDaddy.

What's funny is I've been thinking about this transition for years and remember reading the GD stories on how negative they have been to internet marketers.

Use a renewal coupon: Domain Name Coupons - Domain Name Promos

Or, try namesilo. Namesilo has the same price for reg/renewals, plus free whois privacy forever.

If you're going to flip the domain and hold it for a short time, I would keep it at godaddy. But, if you plan on keeping the domain and developing it, I would use namesilo.

PM me if you would like a free eNom reseller account. These accounts can beat NameCheap pricing.

eNom is awesome - if you are not familiar, do some research. It is the #2 registrar, after GoDaddy, and it is where NameCheap came from. Once you get a taste, I guarantee you'll want to move everything there.

Here's a solution for Cost Reduction.

I use "Honey". You install it and honey will search for
coupon and apply to your Godaddy or Amazon shopping cart.
Two weeks ago I did renew domains for ~ $4.00 & 8.00.

I've been using internetbs.net for a year now, I'm thinking to move more of my existing domains there soon. Their price is $8.49/per domain/year. They also give free private whois that is already included in the regular domain price.
Namecheap only gives free private whois for the first year only. You have to pay extras the following year if you want to continue using private whois.

I have been using name.com for years. I like it's interface better than any I have seen.
They are around $10 for renewals and transfers.

Also they give free private whois even on renewals, you have to use a discount code for that. They also usually have discount codes for registration/renewals/transfers.

If you want the private whois and you are using a discount for the registration, you need to complete the registration without the private, as you can only use 1 discount per transaction. You can immediately purchase the private whois for free in another transaction with the discount code.
